I don't follow this kind of thing very much but my next signpost is Damascus.

I believe Revelations says that Damascus will be made unlivable and Syria is an awful hot place right now. Al Queda could easily lob a few chemical weapons into the city and make it unlivable.

That prophecy about Syria is Isaiah 17. Chapter 19 is already coming to pass in Egypt, and I fully expect the Psalm 83 invasion of Israel which JD mentions any day now.
