The Pope's powerful pro-life message at the mass for 3MM youths.

BACKGROUND by Dangus: The Brazilian constitution guarantees the right to life, starting from conception. However, the Brazilian Supreme Court has ruled that such protection applies only to those babies destined to be born. Therefore, it has allowed the destruction of frozen embryos and anencephaletic babies, which it claims cannot be born, anyway. The court did this in defiance of opinion polls which show 80% of Brazilians oppose the liberalization of abortion. The court's strategy is clear: chip away at the notion of personhood, to move that majority towards the death camp.

Senators, including chief allies of the President, have introduced a bill to restore the right to life to all babies, not just those deemed "destined for personhood" by a corrupt medical establishment. This is a news story about a shockingly simple rebuttal to pro-death liberalizers, and support for the personhood of all babies.

Rio, Brazil, July 29, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Pope Francis has added a powerful pro-life statement to his closing mass at World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro Sunday, personally requesting at the last minute that a seriously ill child whose parents rejected abortion be presented during the offertory procession at the Mass.

According to Fr. Federico Lombardi, the Vatican’s press officer, “During the final mass of World Youth Day, Pope Francis would welcome this child during the offertory procession of the mass as a gesture of welcome and offering of a life to God.”

Fr. Lombardi said the pope first encountered the child, who suffers from anencephaly, a condition in which a baby is born without a significant portion of its brain, as he was leaving the cathedral of St. Sebastian in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday. The parents presented the baby to the pope.

Most babies with anencephaly do not live more than minutes after birth, although some have been known to live for months or even years. Many of them are aborted before birth.

According to Fr. Lombardi, “The parents did not wish to abort their child even though an abortion would have been allowed legally for such a case.”

“The parents wished to welcome the gift of life.”

A reported three million people joined Sunday’s mass, the concluding event of the five day World Youth Day festivities, which brought the world’s first Latin American pope to his home continent.

According to some estimates, again as many as three million youth gathered on Copacabana beach for a prayer vigil Saturday evening, during which the Pope urged them to eschew the siren call of money and power

The left is trying to teach the young that every human from gradle to grave is worthless. Only the most psychopathic kids would prefer that message.

Thank you for this post. The toxic miasma of negativity about Pope Francis and World Youth Days was wearing me down a bit, but now I can just think about parents - and the Pope - loving a baby.

Apparently, that Freeper Vanity is 100% baloney. I’ve posted five points where what juliosevero claims is happening seems to be unbelievable, and asked juliosevero to provide any documentation which can support his assertions, with no response.

Well that settles that then.

Bishops’ comments on abortion spark debate in Brazilian campaign
October 24, 2010

"Analysts say the bishops’ position on the matter is a delicate one, since the Catholic Church has always supported the Workers Party and was one of the social bases for the party’s creation in the 1980s. The Catholic Church has always walked hand in hand with the Workers Party on issues such as landless peasants and agrarian rights."

"The Workers' Party (Portuguese: Partido dos Trabalhadores, PT) is a centre-left[4] political party in Brazil. Launched in 1980, it is recognized as one of the largest and most important left-wing movements of Latin America. It governs at the federal level in a coalition government with several other parties since January 1, 2003. After the 2010 parliamentary election, PT became the largest party in the Chamber of Deputies and the second largest in the Federal Senate for the first time ever.[5] Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the President with the highest approval rating in the history of the country, is PT's most prominent member.[6] His successor, Dilma Rousseff, is also a member of PT; she took office on January 1, 2011. The party's symbols are the red flag with a white star in the center; the five-pointed red star, inscribed with the initials "PT" in the center; and the Workers Party' s anthem.[7] Workers' Party's TSE (Supreme Electoral Court) Identification Number is 13.

Please try to stick to the topic at hand.

None of that addresses the issue at hand, which was the allegation that Brazil is about to legalize abortion. In fact, the governing coalition is moving to prohibite the destruction of artifically conceived embryos, and babies deemed incapable of surviving birth. The bishops have repeatedly urged that Brazilians may not vote for pro-abortion candidates. The bishops' conference statement was controversial not because it instructed Brazilians that they could not be faithful Catholics and vote pro-abortion, but because characterized all Workers' Party candidates as pro-abortion.

As for the implication that the Catholic church is Leftist, it is true that Catholics were a key constitutency of the Workers' Party. Being a predominantly Catholic country, any successful political party must have Catholics as a key constituency. However, as Cardinal Bergoglio, Pope Francis' opposition to such Leftist strains in the Latin American church made him chief target of such Leftists. Claims which turned out to be false that Bergoglio was involved with war crimes for the right-wing military junta which had run Argentina probably cost him the papacy in 2005, when Pope Benedict was chosen instead. As such, he is believed to have finished second, nonetheless.

And still no documentation to support the accusation.

Brazil president approves sexual violence law
9:07 AM Friday Aug 2, 2013

BRASILIA, Brazil (AP) President Dilma Rousseff has approved a controversial law that guarantees women who've been victims of sexual violence access to medical and psychological treatment.

The measure came under fire from the Catholic church because it guarantees access to emergency contraceptives, like the so-called morning after pill.

Church officials had called on Rousseff to veto that article, as well as one stipulating abused women be informed of their right to an abortion. The procedure is illegal in Brazil except for in a few cases, including the rape of the mother.

However, Rousseff signed off Thursday on text without making any vetoes. The law will take effect on Friday, when it appears in the government's official journal.

Women's Policy Minister Eleonora Minicucci said the measure "spells respect for women who suffer sexual violence."

English Translation of Pope Francis' Press Conference
by Edward Pentin Thursday, August 01, 2013 5:35 PM

"Asked about why he didn't mention issues such as same-sex 'marriage' or abortion during the trip, Pope Francis said the Church has "already expressed herself perfectly about this." When pressed further, he said it was necessary to talk about "positive things that open the way to youngsters" and that young people "know perfectly well what the position of the Church is." The journalist pressed him even further, asking the Pope what his position is, to which he replied: "That of the Church. I’m a child of the Church.""
http://www.ncregister.com/blog/edward-pentin/english-text-of-pope-francis-press-conference#ixzz2alVccDYy

Father Lombardi:

Well then, we now go to a Brazilian, it seems right to me. Then there is Patricia Zorzan, perhaps Izoard is coming so then we also have a Frenchman.

Patricia Zorzan:

Speaking on behalf of Brazilians. The society has changed, young people have changed, and we see many young people in Brazil. You have spoken to us about abortion, matrimony between persons of the same sex. In Brazil a law has been approved which extends the right of abortion and has allowed matrimony between persons of the same sex. Why didn’t you speak about this?

[Repeated in Italian]

Pope Francis:

The Church has already expressed herself perfectly on this. It wasn’t necessary to go back to this, nor did I speak about fraud or lies or other things, on which the Church has a clear doctrine.

[Repeated in Italian]

Patricia Zorzan:

But it’s an issue that interests young people …

[Repeated in Italian]

Pope Francis:

Yes, but it wasn’t necessary to talk about that, but about positive things that open the way to youngsters, isn’t that so? Moreover, young people know perfectly well what the position of the Church is.

[Repeated in Italian]

Patricia Zorzan:

What is the position of Your Holiness, can you tell us?

[Repeated in Italian]

Pope Francis:

That of the Church. I’m a child of the Church.

[Repeated in Italian]

Father Lombardi:

Now we return to the Spanish group: Dario Menor Torres … ah, sorry, Izoard, whom we already called, so we have one of the French group … and then, Dario Menor.
