“Former Anglican Archbishop Desmond Tutu Rejects God, Asks To Be Cast Into Hell”

Accurate but sad.

This reminds me of a bizarre thing I saw back before Obama had even become the Democrat nominee.

As was typical in primary season, there was a little speculation about the candidates, that one of them might be the antichrist. Happens every election. But among Obama’s passionate supporters, one of them said something so outrageous that I have never forgotten it.

“I hope that Obama *is* the antichrist, because he would be powerful, and give us the stuff we want, and punish our enemies.”

Obama to one side, here is a person, almost certainly not a Christian, and most likely an atheist, who is so disconnected from reality that they would embrace “the ultimate evil”, out of the hope of getting free stuff and getting revenge on those he hates.

In this case, it doesn’t really matter what “the ultimate evil” is. It doesn’t even need to be the antichrist, as long as it is powerful enough to support their greed and hate.

In any event, I started collecting some of the pseudo-religious or even religious references to Obama made by all sorts of people, even literate and lettered ones, that came across as them worshiping someone they hoped was their greed and hate messiah.

And setting aside both the antichrist and Obama, this is incredibly disturbing. People so focused on greed and hate that they would follow Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, anyone, who promises them “stuff” and to hurt their enemies.

Still just a small number of people, I suspect that their numbers are growing, such as the “rejecting God three times” bit at the Democrat convention.

Now look at someone like Desmond Tutu or Rowan Williams, the former Archbishop of Canterbury as well as a druid high priest. Even high clergy are infected with this insanity.

Even without involvement of demonic forces or the antichrist, this is very, very bad.
