I happen to agree with the Christians.

My point was that a religion with many gods can add another one without breaking stride, but a religion that claims there is only one (true) God cannot budge from that position without destroying itself.

Hence polytheists are inherently more “tolerant” than monotheists. But of course they must equally insist that monotheists are absolutely wrong, or their whole position falls apart.

BTW, Hinduism is not really “a religion.” It is a massive complex of religions, many of which don’t have a whole lot in common with each other. They range from the highest possible metaphysical speculations, which approaches very nearly to monotheism with the various “gods” reduced to something similar to Catholic saints, to the most debased possible sacrificial (including human sacrifice and sacred prostitution) cults.
