REFLECTION ON SUNDAY READINGS ON THE FEAST OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY

READING 2: Roman 5:1-5

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope, and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.

REFLECTION:

The love of the Lord has been poured out to fill the hearts of those who love Him, through the action of the Holy Spirit Who is Love. We love Him because He had first loved us. He loved so much that He was willing to send His only begotten Son to die on the Cross to save us in order that we could be with Him forever. And through the action of the Holy Spirit, through the Grace of God, we came to believe that Christ was truly our Lord and Savior and through His saving Redemption, we had had the eternal salvation. This realization, this faith in Christ and our contemplation on His suffering and His love lead us to be deeply in love with Him. And this love together with contrition and gratitude, we are willing to endure all of our own afflictions or tribulations to bring Him glory and to make Him known and loved. And the more we suffer, the more we understand His sacrificial love for us, the more we love Him, and finally the more we want to love Him much more deeply. We love Him so much that worldly interests or inflictions no longer have much effect on us for we constantly keep our eyes on Christ and on the promise of our eternal salvation, allowing us to live for Him alone, without any fear or indecisiveness. Our nature has been transformed perpetually into the nature of Christ, more spiritual, more angelic, more loving, more righteous, more just, more compatible in spirit to the Holy Spirit, more like His Son Jesus Christ to the Father. Thus, the Christian character is called to be the sacrificial character, we live to glorify the Lord God in rejoicing in our tribulations to be glorified in the glory of the sons and daughters of God.

God Bless

THE LOOK IN A CROWD

(I wrote this while watching my son and his 2nd graders classmates celebrating a birthday in a bowling alley, feeling the Presence of the Lord upon my soul.)

Color my soul with Your tender glance,

The crimson of immense love-suffering,

To melt away my heart, shake my world,

To bless me with Your touch, most intimate, most total.

Crowds often bring my soul silence,

Isolation to be exquisitely alone with You.

Oh this endearing moment,

Seemingly fleeting moment which should last a lifetime,

May I engrave it, eternalize it in a miracle,

A miracle only Love can create.

How can one capture a divine moment, Lord?

With the canvas of my soul?

With the look built upon a wholly devoted heart?

My soul, He is here,

Resolute in love, attentively cares.

O His tender look,

Piercing my being!

May I borrow Your eyes, O Lord,

To adore Your bleeding Heart.

May I borrow Your Heart too,

To fill mine which deeply loves You,

To amend for so many glances,

So many distractions and false witnesses,

Mine and others.

May this moment not fade

Or rather perpetually fade into eternity

For I long to love You with this one look

As if it is the final one,

For the eyes of the bowel of my being has wandered so far for so long,

May they never again depart.

May they behold the Lamb of God forever,

The poor, gentle, humble Lamb

So my heart would break asunder

With its eyes enclosing on a contrite, kneeling, spirit.

My eyes adore You, Lord,

Forever and ever. Amen
