Short and sweet is best in such a situation in my experience. Tell him you love him and nothing will ever change that, but he has to know that you politely disagree with the political postings, and likely many other family member do, too. Maybe the overtly political stuff could be routed through a different channel and you’ll agree to do the same?

When I was young, (yikes almost 3/4 of a century now :O( ) my dad said two things you never discuss in public are arguments about religion or politics. Those 2 things define a person and fights and loss of friends is the only result.

Personally, I pick my fights carefully.
