As a result, the Catholic Church affirms that they “must be accepted with respect,

Sorry, but respect is earned, not automatically granted to every pervert walking the earth.

“Sorry, but respect is earned, not automatically granted to every pervert walking the earth.”

His point that individuals should be treated with dignity is spot on. Respect is earned, but God created humans in His image. Fallen though they may be, He sent His Son to redeem them and pay the hideous penalty of death to make salvation available.

I thank God I never struggled with same sex attraction. They are worth redeeming. I will not treat their behavioral choices as normal, but I hope for their salvation.

"Sorry, but respect is earned, not automatically granted to every pervert walking the earth."

Well, there's respect and there's respect.

One kind --- call it Respect 1.0 --- doesn't have to be earned, because it is "endowed by the Creator" and "Inalienable" --- a respect simply as a member of Homo sapiens to life, liberty, etc--- you know this part.

Because it is not bestowed by Congress, the Court, or even the Constitution, it belongs even to people who have not earned it. People who are embryos, people who are unattractive and unproductive, people with disorders, etc.

A related, but distinguishable kind --- call it Respect 2.0 --- is the kind which is earned.

A homosexual person's basic identity is: a person. Hence, Respect 1.0.

"Homosexual" is not an identity, it's just a description of a disorder. As such, it doesn't elicit "respect" so much as "concern."
