Ive been out of pocket, so I missed most of the hullabaloo about Reverend Luis Leóns indefensible Easter sermon at St. Johns Episcopal Church in front of the Obama family. Among his comments he said the religious Right wants blacks to be back in the back of the bus, for women to be back in the kitchen, for gays to be in the closet, and for immigrants to be on their side of the border.
Once you get beyond the nasty, clichéd and divisive insinuations about conservatives being racists and the basic inappropriateness of the whole spectacle, it seems to me the obvious point is to compare the reaction to Ben Carsons remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast and the reaction to Leóns remarks. When Carson made his pointed, but hardly outrageous, comments at the National Prayer Breakfast, he came under withering and outrageous assault from many liberals. He sullied a nonpartisan event! Well, what the hell do you call an Easter-morning church service? Carson didnt call anyone racist. He didnt denounce anyones fidelity to their faith. He offered some conservative public-policy proposals, touted his scholarship fund, and recounted his inspiring personal story. And that was supposed to be an outrage. It will be interesting to see who leaps to Leóns defense and more interesting to see who doesnt.
If it weren’t for double standards, leftists wouldn’t have any standards at all.
All I want is for leftist loons like Reverend Leon to STFU!
Now that's a tagline!
That ‘reverend’ was where he wanted to be all his life and “O” was in the ONLY place where he actually BELONGS...front and center at an Anti-American rally which is passing for a church service.
The blind leading the stupid!
Ya,gotta play to you audience!
“The Left”ALWAYS accuses us of what they are doing! They spew HATE and INTOLERANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hannity was at the top of his game last night.
Do not forget Cal Thomas who blasted Dr. Carson. Let’s see if he does the same to Rev. Leon.
Oh, but Dr. Benjamin Carson's remarks were at a "non-partisan prayer breakfast" while Reverend Leon's remarks were only at an supposedly tolerant, forgiving, non-judgemental, liberal theology, loving "Easter" morning service.
Therefore according to RINO / CINO Cal Thomas - Dr. Carson - BAD!!! Reverend Leon - silence SHhhhhhh!
Not a single Repub or GOP-e will rebuke Reverend Leon's hateful remarks!
