Father, we pray for our troops who face death for the sake of their country. Remind them, Lord, of Your own dark night, and how You died to buy freedom for all of us freedom from death, from fear, from hell.
Father, we pray for the justices of our Supreme Court as they consider the case regarding homosexual marriage. We ask You, Father, to guide them to make the best decision.
Lord, You walked through the valley of the shadow of death and broke the power of hell. Death could not keep You, the grave could not hold You, and You rose and brought life. Where, O death, are your plagues? Where, O grave, is your destruction? For You, O God, have ransomed us from the power of the grave and redeemed us from death. Because You live, we too will live; because You have loved us, our hope is secure. You have prepared a home and a kingdom for us, a place in our Father's house, that we may be with You. Let this comfort be with Your children, and let our hearts praise the One who has set us free Jesus Christ, our risen Lord, to whom and through whom we pray, Amen.
A call to prayer.
