Some early Christian Africans would put flour on the dead because every picture they had seen of anyone from the Bible or in heaven was pasty white. Not a brown semite in the entire visual lexicon they were familiar with.
That’s a really sad fact. Still bothered me seeing Africans cast as Israelite.
