I am going to cut the Pope some slack on this considering his age, but I have noticed over the years a decrease in genuflecting in front of the Tabernacle by priests, altar servers, and the general population. The fact that it is no longer a requirement to genuflect or kneel before receiving the Holy Eucharist is aiding in this mindset. My knees aren’t the greatest, but I genuflect as far down as I can go when entering and exiting my pew and when I walk past the altar where Jesus is. I also go down on two knees when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed. It hurts like the dickens, and sometimes I have trouble getting up again, but as long as I can, I will.

I bow before the tabernacle. I could probably genuflect, but not without taking the chance of falling due to an old knee injury years ago. There is no point in making a spectacle of myself when bowing shows respect, as well.
