The last two pontiffs will have to face the fury of the enemy who will make a violent persecution to Christianity. Faithful as Peter, the last Pontiff will take care of his flock in the midst of the attacks of the enemy. 2 Thessalonians 3-4 speaks of the apostasy of the last times before the second coming of Christ, when evil will be defying everything that is sacred. The man of iniquity, or the anti-Christ will take his seat in the temple of God. This does not necessarily means the embodiment of the devil but if could mean the evil that is being accepted broadly when human beings who are temples of the spirit of God are being desecrated by their own wickedness.

The prophecies of Saint Malachy end like this:

In the persecution of the Holy Roman Church, there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock among many tribulations after which the seven hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people.

Saint Malachy’s ‘prophecies’ are considered fakes by the Catholic church.

On the internet, they keep evolving and evolving to fit the current story just like Nostradamus’ prophecies. Most of the ‘prophecies’ were just one liners that you can read anything into if you wish.

maybe the Pope is resigning due to some omen about his Dove of Peace being attacked back in January.

Popes, like US Supreme Court Justices, just don’t resign.

The second meaning of "De labore solis" is a solar eclipse, in which the sun seems to struggle in order to give its light. Perhaps the fact that John Paul II, was a very Marian Pope who had a special devotion to the Virgin Mary, the woman clothed with the sun that appears in the Apocalypse, suggests that the sun (Our Lord) has been temporarily eclipsed by the moon (Our Lady).

You've got to be kidding.

Didn’t a previous Pope Benedict have a vision about himself or a namesake (turned out to not be himself, obviously) who would be struck down.

As a kid I remember watching a episode of Unsolved Mysteries about three or four Italian girls who saw a vision of Mary on a hill and she told them about the end of the world. Anyone know the story?

How odd, people who swear no Catholic has ever been right about anything believe Saint Malachy is a prophet when they want to interpret something he said to fit their agenda. Same thing with Fatima from people who call Mary nothing but an "incubator".

If I didn't know better I'd think it was a perfect example of how most non-Catholic folks just grab whatever is convenient. Like grabbing, “Christian Liberty” to hide the fact that they don't say a word about the vast majority of abortions which are cause by abortaficiant contraceptives.

I guess if such folks can ignore reversing themselves on four hundred years of teaching that contraception is a sin (which has led to at least 120 million abortions by contraceptive since “the pill”), reversing what they preach with regard to Catholics not ever being right is small patatos.

Obviously, if it furthers the anti-Catholic agenda and sells "Surrender & Evacuate" books, reversals are Ok.

1. The prophecies of St. Malachy were only “discovered” 500 years after St. Malachy lived.
2. The prophecy of Peter the Roman was added, probably hundreds of years later, in a seperate hand.
3. There’s nothing to say that hundreds of popes don’t exist between the Glory of the Olives and Peter the Roman.

The more important question would be, when on earth are we going to see an end to the end of the world prophecies?

If the end were so easy to see, maybe one with that much vision could have saved the world from so much pain and suffering!
