Kevin Walsh of the University of Richmond School of Law writes:

The twitterverse is alive with tweets about Justice Scalia’s headgear for today’s inauguration. At the risk of putting all the fun speculation to an end . . . The hat is a custom-made replica of the hat depicted in Holbein’s famous portrait of St. Thomas More. It was a gift from the St. Thomas More Society of Richmond, Virginia. We presented it to him in November 2010 as a memento of his participation in our 27th annual Red Mass and dinner.

Wearing the cap of a statesman who defended liberty of church and integrity of Christian conscience to the inauguration of a president whose policies have imperiled both: Make of it what you will.

Thanks for posting that pic. Love it. Thomas doesn’t look too happy to be there, either.

Some here hate Obama, that’s assumed, but they hate the Catholic Church even more, and would apparently settle on the former, if he only eliminated the latter!

“AB supports anti-scriptural bigotry, and you agree with him?”

Has name calling become acceptable on the Religion Forum?

He sends strong delusion to those that desire it.

There is no stronger delusion than worship of humans.

Pray to them, bow and Mithra Cross your self, etc.

It just keeps on coming if you desire it.

If he had said "AB is a bigot" it would be "making it personal" but the way he said it expressed his own mind, couched in a question.

editor-surveyor: when speaking of another Freeper be sure to ping him to your remarks.

All of you: do not let this thread continue to derail into a discussion "about" individual Freepers. That IS a form of "making it personal."

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

So was Martin Luther; the same tyranny that Yeshua protested in his “letters to the churches.”

OH PLEASE....

For those that are unappreciative of Luther’s great gift to the true church, that would be most difficult to assess I suppose

Luther probably caused the loss of more souls that any other single person in history.....he led millions away from the true church.

The Catholic Church never accepting priestesses and homosexualist marriage is simply a cunning strategy. Secret Vatican Agents have inflicted the acceptance of female clergy and homosexualist marriage upon some of their fellow Christians. This was done so that a certain % that leave those targeted Christian groups because of that acceptance will request to join with the Catholic Church, becoming ‘Catholic.’ This could possibly be effectuated by an insidious special provision specific to any one Christian group that is lured in due to rejecting things like female clergy, and ‘gay marriage.’ But only if and when they themselves ask for such a provision.

Obviously.

He led them away from the false church, but he didn’t lead them quite far enough, but others have taken up the call and shown the way out to salvation.

Credo in Deum Patrem omnipotentem;
Creatorem caeli et terrae.

Et in Jesum Christum,
Filium eius unicum, Dominum nostrum;
qui conceptus est
de Spiritu Sancto,
natus ex Maria virgine;
passus sub Pontio Pilato,
crucifixus, mortuus, et sepultus;
descendit ad inferos;
tertia die resurrexit a mortuis;
ascendit ad caelos;
sedet ad dexteram Dei Patris omnipotentis;
inde venturus est
iudicare vivos et mortuos.

Credo in Spiritum Sanctum;
sanctam ecclesiam catholicam;
sanctorum communionem;
remissionem peccatorum;
carnis resurrectionem;
vitam aeternam. Amen.

In English:

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived
by the power of the Holy Spirit,
and born of the Virgin Mary,
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
he will come again
to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen
