FYI ping!
Is it surprising considering it was created so a king can divorce his wives.
Now, Church of England, sound it out, say it slowly and distinctly .... queer. See that wasn’t that hard and there is no confusion or misunderstanding of terms.
It kind of makes “sense”. Merriam Webster defines celibate as “a person who lives in celibacy” and celibacy as “the state of not being married and abstention from sexual intercourse”. In other words, they’ve just discovered that homosexuals in civil partnerships are not married! Next thing they will tell us that it is cold in the winter, LOL!
I studied in Durham, England and lived in an Anglican college. I discovered that over half of the Anglican priests were homosexual. The computers were loaded with gay and child porn. Bishop Michael was caught having gay sex while his wife and children were in the car. You have to understand that the Anglican church is morally worse than before the days of the Reformation. You do realize that there are Anglican priests that have declared themselves to be Atheists?
I've never understood celibate to mean 'unmarried'. Maybe that's how sexually active homosexual priests defined it, so they considered themselves still 'celibate'. That's splitting hairs in the worst way, and sounds like a distinction made by Jesuits.
I have always understood celibacy to mean not participating in sexual acts of ANY kind, and I believe the Church has always taught it as such.
