The annual rite of the Queen's Christmas address to Britain and the Commonwealth. Pretty good one this year - Liz excelled herself. The band at the start is the paraorchestra - disabled musicians.
TOPICS: Mainline Protestant; Moral Issues; Religion & Culture
KEYWORDS: christmas; elizabeth; royal
The Christian sentiments at the back end of this speech (they start at 4:50) may seem a bit twee or even very formulaic to American ears, but it is very rare for anyone in the Public eye in Britain to simply lay out the true meaning of Christmas. You may or may not agree with Royalty or perhaps Anglicanism. The simple fact though is that Liz really is a believer, and isn't ashamed to state it.

I watched it Live and I thought The Queen was very well spoken and sincere.
There is hope left, if only we could find the courage to embrace it.
