Leading Anglican campaigners have warned that Government plans to exempt the Church from the new legislation will lead to hundreds of homosexual clergy and worshippers marrying in Quaker and Unitarian services and then returning to the Church.
In a letter to The Sunday Telegraph, dozens of clergy, including Lord Harries, the former Bishop of Oxford, today urge homosexual Anglicans to follow this course of action.
Until the Church of England allows us to solemnise same-sex marriages in our churches, as a matter of pastoral expediency we will counsel lesbian and gay members of our congregations to marry in those churches willing to celebrate faithful same-sex relationships, the letter, which is also signed by scores of lay members of the Church, states.
He said: People long to be able to celebrate same-sex marriages in the sight of God and for that reason people will go to other denominations if the Church of England closes the door.
..Dr Giles Fraser, the former canon chancellor of St Pauls Cathedral, went as far as to indicate that marrying homosexual couples in an Anglican church would be a cause worth going to prison for.
In an official response to the Governments consultation on same-sex marriage in June the Church declared itself against the move. A document produced by officials said same-sex weddings were against Anglican teachings and would undermine the traditional definition of marriage.

Once you let Satan in the door it is hard to get him to leave.
Disgusting. I would say leave the church, but the sodomites have already co-opted most of the Anglican church in Europe and North America. At this point, all conservative Anglicans should just leave this fallen church and let it wither away as it should. They will face God’s judgement, and it will be especially severe on people that know the Word and still go against it.
You have to understand that from his perspective, going to prison would be incredibly exciting. He often fantasizes about it.
Some people just want to go to hell and not wait in line!
The Catholic Church does not recognize civil marriages or marriages outside of the Catholic Church.
I urge other denominations that have not yet been taken over by the secular/homosexual crowd to do likewise. For your own protection.
This is exactly why the Church is called the harlot.
17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
However if the Church had not fallen so far in the first place the the Government would have no hold on the church.
I urge other denominations that have not yet been taken over by the secular/homosexual crowd to do likewise. For your own protection.
Vote for what?
Vote for what?
I realize every thing did not start with Obama but he more than the other candidates is against every thing that the Bible stands for.
He is also against every thing the us constitution stands for.
This article, and the topic of this post, is that the British parliment has introduced gay marriage, but has exempted the Anglican church in England.
So your comment on who Catholics voted for in America is a complete non-sequitor. It either due to your desire to take a pot-shot at Catholics or you didn’t read the article.
I can’t help it if you didn’t read the article, so I’ll address your ignorance on the Catholic vote.
Back in America, the majority of practicing Catholics voted for Romney. Practicing white Catholics voted overwhelmingly for Romney.
A non-practicing Catholic might call themselves a “Catholic”, but if they don’t practice the faith, then they’re really not Catholic. A non-practicing Catholic has either chosen a path of apathy or has chosen to distance themselves from actual Catholic policy. It is thus entirely inappropriate to associate how non-practicing Catholics vote with Catholic church policy (like what the Catholic Church sanctions as marriage).
Many liberal journalists like to lump non-practicing Catholics in with real Catholics to push their agenda that Catholics are democrats. Don’t fall for it.

In general this is not about Briton, if it was just about Briton it would really be none of our business.
Also i was including not only people who call them selves Catholic but also the daughters of the Catholic Church which includes most other denominations.
Luke 9:46-56
[46]
An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest.
47]
Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child and had him stand beside him.
[48]
Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For he who is least among you all — he is the greatest.”
[49]
“Master,” said John, “we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us.”
[50]
“Do not stop him,” Jesus said, “for whoever is not against you is for you.”
The Christian people make up the Church, so the Church can only be as good as the people, even in the early Church the leaders tried to keep the false believers out, today they are not even trying to keep them out because if they do they are losing money.
Members of the early Church were faithful believers, the ones who were not were only the congregation who came to learn, now in most Churches any child can become a member of a Church.
At any rate, how is the news media supposed to know who is practicing the faith and who is not, and how could you believe them any way?
Supposedly about 70 percent of Americans are Christian, but the polls at an election shows other wise.
...how is the news media supposed to know who is practicing the faith and who is not...
Simple. Pollsters ask voters "do you attend church on a regular basis". The voters answer yes or no. The media repeats the polls and usually lumps the "no" and "yes" groups together.
Active Catholics accounted for 11% of the electorate in 2012 and voted 57-42 for Mitt Romney over President Obama.
I'm not sure what you meant by "daughters of the Catholic Church". The Catholic Church is made up of 23 autonomous particular churches, each of which accepts the paramountcy of the Pope on matters of doctrine. The Anglican Church is NOT part of the Catholic Church, as it has specifically rejected Catholic doctrine.
The point is this: Christian denominations that presently reject homosexual "marriage" (which seems to include only Catholics, Southern Baptists and Missouri Synod Lutherans) need to reject recognition of marriages that were performed outside their denomination if they wish to avoid liberal infiltrators into their ranks, as what has occurred to the Anglicans.
Most of your reply strays away from the topic.

The people in the place where i work reject Homosexuals and their marriages 100 percent and most of these people do not go to any church.
If the general electorate voted 57-42 it would have been labeled a landslide. That's just about how badly Reagan defeated Mondale in 1984.
Every practicing Catholic that I know rejects homosexual “marriage” 100%. Even the ones who vote democrat reject this insult to the sacrament. 100%. Every one.
Your attempt to infer that Catholics somehow approve of gay marriage is one of the dumbest things that I've had to rebut on this forum. It is absurd.

You keep using the word dumb or ignorant and i will admit that since i am a grade school drop out i am not very smart
but it has been many years since i have voted on the Democrats because of their socialist views.
But gay marriage, God forbid, it would seem to me that if the Catholic Church is of God then all of the Catholic people would be enlightened enough to vote against something like that, bar everything else.
Not accusing, just trying to understand how almost half of the people who claim to be of the true Church of God could vote for something like that.
But as for Romney and Obama, Romney wasn't exactly a stalwart defender of traditional marriage, either, if you check his record.
