employers are now required by law to offer government approved health coverage or face ever increasing fines as a penalty. would be very difficult to pay fines to the government and give pay raises...especially as the recession deepens I think the fines are much lower than the cost of health insurance... which is an intentional incentive to *not* offer insurance, as Obama wants to destroy all private health coverage in order to go to a single-payer system.

I admittedly don’t know exact numbers.... but my understanding is also that these fines are low but do increase over time and are per/employee. for a large institution like a large catholic hospital these could really add up
