Muslims do not want freedom, they despise it. Much easier to be a slave and be told what to do than to have to make decisions for yourself.
If you are free, then you are largely responsible for your current state. Your lack of accomplishment must be due to your own lack of ability, drive, and energy. You see why freedom is unattractive to a certain segment of the population?
Freedom is mainly important to those people of ability who want to use that ability to accomplish things. Societies which allow this tiny segment the freedom to accomplish things (and protect their resulting property from the envious mob) tend to prosper.
Societies which focus on preserving the self-image of the inferior, tend to be poor.
