Down with OCP!!!

I agree!

In the spirit of full disclosure, we also played "Nina Bonita" at a Quinceanera (15th birthday) Mass, although it's a pop song about a father's love for a daughter.

Our current pastor doesn't do these services because the observance of the 15th birthday is not a sacrament, although he allows (following Communion, before the final blessing) a bit of time for the presentation of a baby, a 3-year-old, or a 15-year-old daughter, as well as the blessing of household religious articles.

I (personally, I am not the Pope) have no particular objection to the "presentation of a baby" &c in Church, but I would prefer (personally, I am not the Pope) that it be done after the final blessing. It's not part of the Divine Liturgy, respect for which should move us to clearly delineate liturgical acts from non-liturgical acts.

This may seem pecksniffery and pettifigging ... I beg to differ. Disrespect for the Liturgy and for the sacraments has become ingrained in Catholic culture in America over the last 40 years; I think it important that we reestablish it.

I hope this isn't too 'heavy' for an otherwise amusing satire thread.
