Since You are our Rock and our Fortress, for the sake of Your name lead and guide us, lead and guide Your children in this Nation, lead and guide all of our American Heroes, we trust in You, O Lord; we say, "You are our God." Our times are in Your hands; deliver us from our enemies and those who pursue us. Let Your face shine on Your servants; save us in Your unfailing love. Let us not be put to shame, O Lord, for we have cried out to You. We celebrate the fact that You, the God of peace, will soon crush Satan under Your feet, and until then the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is with us.

Lord Jesus, You Yourself bore our sins in Your body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by Your wounds we have been healed. For we were like sheep going astray, but now we have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of our souls. Lord God, cause our hearts, our souls and our minds to be so overtaken by Your grace that we share the testimony of the sinful woman who anointed Your feet. You said of her, "I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven--for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little." Lord Jesus, make our story a love story. Amen.

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission.
