The lds-org denies that Jesus is the Creator, that everything was created BY Him.

The lds-org is a thief of the Name and the Truth of Jesus Christ.

Did you know this “Lord can use...leaders who don’t know him” argument could be used by Christians to defend voting for Obama...do you really want vto go there?

Having taken human form to offer us salvation, Jesus became our brother in the sense of the “brotherhood of man”. All men are our brothers in that sense, even brother Obama. You can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your relatives!

Mitt Rmoney’s political dishonesty is infamous.

His lds contacts serve to support, excuse and promote that dishonesty.

At this point, if the election were held today, I would vote for none of the above ... or I’d look for a 3rd party conservative.

Colofornian is reminding us on a daily basis that, for many people, it would violate our consciences to vote for Rmoney.

Re old english carol...

wanna explain since you are our current lone lds rep in this thread why volluz, why byu peers who reviewed volluz' work, and why ensign mag [see post to campion with "secondary source" link] all point to a lack of standard works' undergirding for this concept?

also, care to explain "children of the devil" phrase by Jesus in John 8 if Jesus was really the brother of all? THIS is where lds are lacking in trying to explain passages like John 1:12 and 13 and adoption passages in romans 8 and also ephesians...even book os mosiah in bom militates vs lds concepts here

Thanks for the clarification. I don’t support Obama, so I don’t intend to defend him. I do, reluctantly, support Romney, so I do defend him. I will let others who do support Obama come to his defense. I am sure you read any number of posts on this site, and comments that follow. I disagree with many things that are said here, but only occasionally do I post replies. That doesn’t mean that I agree with those posts.

I suspect, but can’t prove, that if Obama were conservative, or if Romney were more conservative (I know, many say that he is not conservative at all.) that the religious commentary would be greatly, if not completely, eliminated. After all, Mormonism existed long before Romney became a candidate.

mormonISM has been talked about on FR for nearly a decade, why should this discussion be stopped because a candidate is a practitioner of mormonISM.
This is the Religion Forum after all.

Of course put BHO and all you presented in the limelight - I agree.
You might want to start a new thread say in Chat or general information, this is the Religion Forum and the thread is about mormonIMS.

So who has said Romney cannot practice the religion he wants? Name names, expose these people publicly.
This is the Religion Forum and the discussion on this thread is about mormonISM. That’s not a hard concept, well to most anyway.

You might want to learn about the foundation of mormonism then.

Exposure of mormonISM will do that.

Bring it out The lies and innuendo must be particularly strong today.

Whatever Mormonism’s foundation, it is still a religious faith, but not one I adhere to (although I am sure there are some elements that correspond to my faith). This country was founded, in large part, upon religious freedom. And of course we are all entitled to support or not support a candidate for whatever reason we like. For me, I choose not to oppose a candidate based upon religious beliefs, unless those beliefs propose to directly attack the Constitution and laws of the US.

When you learn about mormonISM and the foundation is important, the information about your concerns will be answered. Assuming that you actually want to know.
mormonism is more than it seems.

And that is what it is: FAITH. Religion, by its very nature is a faith-based thing

Yes...and no. By "NO" I mean faith is never running solo...there's always an object of that trust. With Christianity, no personal revealing of Jesus, no faith, no religion. No resurrection of Jesus= a faith that is in vain...empty...says the apostle Paul in 1 cor 15...That means unlike "religion" christianity is rooted in time-space history...it's not ethereal esoterism like a lot of faddish new age stuff...that means that the resurrection of Jesus wasn't done in some dark corner...He appeared to 500 witnesses...eyewitnesses are legal testimony...testimony worthy of the "news" section .. not just the "religion" section ... it isn't simply "faith" regardless of whether it corresponds to reality...if the jerusalem times had been around during Jesus' dayn reports of His resurrection would have bee front page news...the eyewitnesses could have been interviewed

Colo— I believe in the resurrection of Christ, and in His teachings. Not to try to get too cute, but I guess it is conceivable that a god (not our God) could have resurrected Jesus as some sort of cruel joke and that our faith in Christianity could be misplaced. Not likely, but possible, I guess.

My faith includes faith in what Christ taught, as well as faith in what witnesses to His resurrection say. I agree, though, that my faith is buttressed in the truth that Christ’s followers, especially witnesses to the resurrection, in the early church, were willing to die horrible deaths rather than recant what they said they saw. I would like to think that I would be willing to die for Christ, because I believe in Him. If I did not truly believe, I promise that I would not be willing to die for something I thought was a lie.

Wrong, Colo. Sorry, this is one area where the Mormons got it at least partly right.

No, mormonism didn't even get it partially right. Here is why the DEFINITIONS of the termonology used by mormons is so important. Within mormon termonology, they use the term 'brother' in an ontologial manner - that is Jesus is the same being as you and I.

Romans 8 states that we are ADOPTED - therefore there is no genetic relationship with Jesus as brother but a relational manner brought by salvation.

If one would pay attention to the twisting of terminology by mormonism, one wouldn't be defending the unorthodox application of the words used by mormons.
