With all due respect, Cher came into the spotlight somewhere around 1965 when she teamed up with Sonny Bono. They had a weekly network TV show that was a big deal in pre-cable days. Their then-daughter/now-son was prominently featured in every show. Cher may be an imbecile but her fame has nothing whatsoever to do with Olympia Dukakis.
Her resurgence in fame came in the 1980s and again in the 1990s when she used a digital device that became standard practice in the pop-gay-dance-disco world.
She'd be another 60s one-name hasbeen along with Melanie if it wasn't for Oscar films like Moonstruck and Mask in the 1980s. Do EITHER of those Oscar winners make top 100 films lists?
Snore. Has been. Skank.
