Gay marriage may be “nothing to fear”, but it isn’t much of a principle to promote, either. There is absolutely no redeeming social benefit to this travesty of human relationships.
I have nothing at all against a binding contract between individuals for personal obligations, even to the point of indentures into servitude, but to get the blessings of religion to support this arrangement, that is calling on the induldgence of the Diety, and the consequences may not be pleasant.

A leading signatory of the letter is Dr Jeffrey John, the openly gay dean of St Albans, whose appointment as Bishop of Reading in 2003 was withdrawn after protests from conservative Anglicans.
One of the signatories is someone who was rejected by the members of his church. How many more of the signatories were also rejected by church members?

"...the Church of England has "nothing to fear" from the prospect of gay marriage..." Yeah, just like Sodom and Gomorrah had nothing to fear by putting a public stamp of approval on homosexual activities.
They've proven that the Church of England has thrown out Biblical principles, and can no longer be considered a Christian church. Uh... as have most 'mainstream' American churches.
God's harsh judgement will not be very far away.
