I do believe, matrimony (= marriage) has its root word from the Latin = mater = mother.
I heard that on the Rush Limbo show. He was making a relevant political point that marriage has been universally recognize as between a man & a women> with its purpose for children & a family. = Marriage = Motherhood + a husband & family.
I also believe there are some folks reading the Catholic threads that get an actual paycheck from the >Mater that has Latin as its official language. I’m sure those folks could explain the Latin & also the correct teaching on marriage.
The Sunday Mass I went to (on this Mother’s Day) was small enough that the Priest asked all the Mother’s up to the front of the Church for a special blessing.
The Priest ended the blessing by sprinkling Holy Water on all the gals. The gals >liked it a LOT. Everyone liked it; the Church had the same ‘feeling’ as when babies are Baptized.
None of us would be here if we didn’t have Mothers. Thank You, Mom!
I had never thought about the word ‘Matrimony’ coming from mater, but I bet it does.
Goes to do a little research here....not much, just a little.
