We need to tell our bishops that the options laid out so far are not worthy of the Church Militant. The only appropriate option is for our laity to stand in solidarity with our bishops, and for our bishops and other religious administrators to publicly defy the mandate and keep the institutions open without compliance.

The good Cardinal is right, but the tense is wrong. Obama has already established a state church. He is now moving to enforce it.

All members of any competing religion, regardless of their theological differences, need to stand together or he will crush us one at a time.

Cardinal Francis George is exactly, precisely wrong if he thinks we'll "need" to secularize our institutions.

He forgets that Peter, Paul, and every apostle except John died in jail; and John died in exile. Cardinal George "needs" to go to jail--- with the rest of us. Because we are not going to give in.

I agree, but I think it would be nice of the hierarchy would support our individual rights not to be included in ObamaCare, either. They should have protected their flock, not just their purses, but that’s water under the bridge; I have no interest in seeing their exemption protected while a Catholic’s small business isn’t, and can only hope the whole thing gets tossed.

I, too will pass the word. There is NO other way. Open defiance also causes obama and those upon his dance card to mostly be limited to more or less overt moves, too. Although I’m not looking forward to his “Committee of Public Safety,” I must admit.
