Did this start because of the change in liturgy?

From what I've read, this congregation was poor and told to fend for itself. They formed an organization, bought the building, and members have been donating land and other stuff for some time.

Someone higher in the church organization say some ripe fruit and told the congregation to rewrite their by laws so that the congregations assets no longer belonged to the congregation but to the higher church organization.

The congregation rewrote their by laws to say that the higher church organization could go pound sand.

The higher church organization excommunicated certain members and tried to claim their assets.

A judge said that the organization is within its rights.

Or something like that...
