Did Brigham Young teach that Christians are ignorant people? From our series entitled, "Are Mormons Christians?":

TOPICS: Apologetics; Ministry/Outreach; Other Christian; Religion & Culture
KEYWORDS: brighamyoung; christians; lds; mormon
John Ankerberg show clip (95 seconds)

Addresses both Brigham's opinion of Christianity...plus "Are the Mormon gods and the Christian god the same?"

Closes with a mention that Lds redefine "eternal life" as "godhood."

Here's the Mormon take on Eternal Life:

Eternal life is living with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in the celestial kingdom. This blessing--which is also called exaltation--comes only to those who keep the commandments and make the necessary covenants (Source: Preparing for Exaltation Teacher's Manual, p. 4, 1998)

Those "necessary covenants" include those with the Lds church & temple access, etc.

Eternal Life is a term which always means 'exaltation' (becoming a god)

I can’t vote for Romney or anyone that puts the Book of Mormon over the Holy Bible, and isn’t wise enough to know what the true Gospel of Jesus is. I pray for him because he is very deceived as are all Mormons. They are not Christians, Christians believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Word of God (ONE God not gods), which Jesus magnifies above His own name and His is name above ALL names so that signifies the importance of the Bible to our Lord. I am not being politically correct now am I? Oh well, I won’t compromise where my Lord is concerned, none of us should!

Thanks.

Generally, I'm interested in history and not so much in theology. What *will* annoy me is that the Preparing for Exaltation Teacher's Manual will be locked behind a LDS portal that requires a LDS password to enter. As will the student materials. Just like LDS 'seminary' materials that are taught to 14-18 year old LDS youth, including the history of the LDS church. And 'institute' materials for college age. And some materials for ages 4-11.

What's so secret about the theology that it can't be shared with me, a gentile?

Amen! And Praise God that people are leaving Mormonism for Christianity every day. I know one just this week who told her LDS bishop she quit and went to a Christian church yesterday.

Keep up the prayers - they need it.

As a gentile, you are not spiritually ready for the ‘meat’ doctrines of the LDS.

How many times have Mormons been called “ignorant” on this very site? Too many to count.
