WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is marking Hanukkah as a story of "faith over doubt."
Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and Vice President Joe Biden convened a Hanukkah celebration at the White House Thursday in an early celebration of the Jewish Festival of Lights.
Obama said the Hanukkah story was about "right over might, faith over doubt." In the Hanukkah story, a small band of Jews rededicating a Jerusalem temple found that a one-day supply of oil kindled a flame instead for eight.
The president noted "our unshakeable support and commitment to the security of the nation of Israel."
Hanukkah begins at sunset on Dec. 20. Obama joked that everyone needs to be "careful that your kids don't start thinking Hanukkah lasts 20 nights instead of eight."

Don’t the Jews light all eight candles and then place outside their door? And then the bright lights scare away the Angel of Death so he doesn’t take their last-born daughter? I’m guessing that’s why Obama lit them all.
After these blessings are said the shamash is lit and the first Hanukkah candle (the one you placed in the rightmost position of your menorah) is kindled using the flame from the shamash. Place the shamash in its place on your menorah. (Usually there will be a special spot for it in the middle of your menorah.)
Lighting the Menorah on All Other Nights of Hanukkah
During all other nights of Hanukkah begin by placing your candles in your menorah from right to left. Not counting the shamash, the number of Hanukkah candles in your menorah should match the night of Hanukkah. For instance, if it is the 5th night of Hanukkah you would place 5 Hanukkah candles in your menorah.

Not to give any credibility to Obama, but I beleive the Karaite Jews light all 8 candles and extigish one each day. Of course there are only about 50,000 Karaite Jews in the world and it still is 12 days too early.
Did he have a kosher Hanukkah ham? The other white beef?

Notice that the AP writer, doing his best to save face for Obama, didn't even mention the breach of protocol in the candle lighting.
Also, there was another phony proclamation about his administration's alleged dedication to Israel's security. Seems like O is still on edge about the Jewish vote next year, but missteps like this just compound his miserable record on the Israel-Islamist conflict.
How long before we hear about his long lost Uncle Abe who just happens to be Jewish.
They were all probably lit from a single match too.

All I know is this... if Bush did this, it would be all you’d hear about for weeks to come, and there would be angry Jewish leaders hinting darkly about the antisemetic - nay, Nazi-like tendencies of conservatives and Republicans.
