Egyptians ought to be thankful that they don’t seem to have a pre-determined political leader (Khomeini, murderer-in-chief) Iran during 1979 revolution had. The situation post-revolution in Iran was much much worse than Egypt in 2011 - Islamics immediately took full control, and disarmed “the Artesh (traditional Iranian army), and immediately executed many of them, followed by sham elections, which seemed genuine at the time. At least Egyptians seem to have a chance. But, I see (and saw in January) many shades & echoes of Iran in 1979 & thereafter. The next 4 yrs will be particularly interesting in Egypt. Problem is that ‘pro-democracy revolutionaries’ are often caught up in revolutionary fever and fervour. They never take a long term view - sucked in.. - same can be said for Tunisia & Libya. Though, each is unique in its own right.
