Should Mitt Romney win the Republican presidential nomination, it is unlikely his membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be as big an issue in the general election as it has been in the Republican primary campaign.

I don’t have any issues with Mormons but it doesn’t mean I’ll be voting for Romney. He’s a liberal and that’s enough.

Romney is a deceitful lying political whore who couldn’t even beat Juan McCain. We don’t have to settle for a suave “intelligent” unprincipled phony. HELL NO. P.S. Boycott that Romney sycophant Hugh Hewitt-dork.

Liberal, progressive, Statist...we don't even need to approach the subject of his religion. He is the perfect candidate...for the Dhims.

A candidate being a Mormon certainly isn't an issue for me. Not having any religion, I'm on the outside looking it, as it were.

I agree with Dennis Prager that in the political realm it is our values which matter, not our theology:

In Politics Values Matter, Not Theology

I don’t think that electing someone like Romney is such a good idea. Mormon’s are very polytheistic and their baptisms are not valid in the eyes of the Holy See.

It would give Americans the impression that Mormons are Christian, and that polytheism is somehow compatible with Christianity. I would therefore, have to question his judgment on life issues such as abortion.

“. . . baptisms are not valid . . .”

That’s exactly why about one million Americans refused to vote for JFK. Just change the words around. I am perplexed why some Catholics believe it’s OK for an American voter to say: “I would never vote for a Mormon!” When that’s exactly what about a million Americans said about JFK: “I would never vote for a Catholic!”

Go figure.

” . . . he lives a faith that teaches the dignity of man, tolerance for human diversity, the power of charity to improves the lives of those that give as well as those that receive, and potential for redemption when we fail — which each of us does in some measure.”

I am so thankful that Jesus Christ is my Judge and not some puny petty mortal! Whew!!

Sandra, read my post again. I’m not saying in any shape or form that the government may prohibit a candidate running for office based on their religion. No. Not at all. What I’m saying is that the voters shouldn’t disregard one’s religion when voting. At times the religious beliefs of one should be taken into account. But, when a candidate’s election (or even nomination) would do grave damage to the American public’s understanding of what Christianity is, a value so important is in play that I personally don’t see how I could vote for such a person.

I judge not Romney’s soul, that is for Christ. I judge Romney as a voter and he is a lying whore!
