Samaniji Akshay Pragya spends her days in rigorous prayer, meditation, discourse, and scripture study from 4 a.m. until she retires at 10 p.m.
Her life is a simple one. As a Jain nun, her life is designed to be in pursuit of spiritual purity. She owns nothing. She and the other nuns who live at the Jain Vishva Bharati-Preksha Meditation Center where local Jains go to worship - lead a life free of attachments.
"We don't own anything," said Pragya, who was just 13 when she knew she wanted to become a Jain nun. "We live in a very small corner, we don't use a bed or a pillow or blanket. We lay down on the floor with a small piece of cloth, and we sleep."
Because Pragya doesn't own anything, she relies on the charity of Jain followers.
"We don't have a bank balance. We don't have any land. We don't have many possessions," said Pragya. "What we need, like our three dresses or somewhere to live, someone else gave it to us. We aren't the property owner, we are just living here, and when I go to India, they are the owners there."
As a sädhvi, a woman who has renounced family life, wealth and worldly comforts to seek liberation, Pragya lives the life of a nun. Men who seek the same spiritual life are monks, also called sädhu.
"People come, they bring us food," said Pragya. "If the people forget, then we fast and we enjoy. Our lifestyle requires us to survive with fewer possessions."
"We have strict rules, a very disciplined life," said Pragya of the five vows sädhvis follow: non-violence, truthfulness, non-stealing, chastity and non-materialism. "Our life is very stress free, compassionate, helpful and spiritual ."

I think Stargate took a lot of the "ascended" business from Jainism
Interesting. Now they can purely go to hell.
Jain rhymes with wine.
Either on the extreme lunatic fringe of religion, or dead center...
Take Jainism to the limit and you die from starvation.
Jainists are no doubt predisposed towards Communism.
The problem with a “creator god” is that such a god has to exist in a realm outside of time and space. However, being outside of time causes change to be impossible, as change occurs only under time. The fundamental assumption with respect to such a “creator god” is that all “creation” had a beginning. If so, a transition occurs from this “creator god, created something” to “creator god, everything is created”.
However, being outside time, how is this transition permitted?
Preparing a will must be a breeze for these folks.
CORRECTION: “...creator god, prior to ‘ beginning creation’...”
I don’t think so — the biggest Jain commnities in India are among Gujaratis and Rajasthanis — both of whom are known as trading communities.
God has no constraints. For if God had constraints then he would not be all powerful.
If God cannot deceive, then the act of lying is a constraint. Likewise...
The problem of time with respect to God remains, because time is absolutely essential to cause change. For God to therefore act, God MUST be under time, as explained in the earlier. This necessitates time to have never had a beginning..
“change occurs only under time” — not necessarily. we only understand time as we experience it. however, even if we assume your statement to be true, then also it works if we anthropomorphize this as creation is in a “bubble”
Any transition requires time, or else you would have to explain how a realm can exist which allows change to occur instantaneously - that is, change happening without the passage of time - which is an absurdity. For something to become another thing, if no time passes, how is the transition to occur?
Any religion that doesn’t believe in brutalizing women and making war on their neighbors is fine by me.
IF?
The only problem that exists is our understanding of God and ability to follow his commands. Thinking God is subject to our interpretation of the universe is grand folly.

No interpretation can allow change to occur, devoid of time. Similarly, God wouldn’t be God if God self-contradicts. Thus, restrictions which cannot be violated without forcing a definitional change, clearly exist.
God cannot contradict God. This is an applicable restriction TO God.
ya might wanna cut down on the weed.
Time is a slippery thing.
What is the smallest unit of time? If transition requires time, the obverse, that time requires transition must be true, to follow the rules of Aristotle's logic.
So time cannot happen without change, and change causes the perception of time.
Or we just see through a glass, darkly.

I’m aware of the reference.
However, more accurately, it is the measurement of time which requires a transition. Time itself can pass without any change occurring in the configuration - like a still photo.
To that end, the reference is unrelated in the context of performing change without being under time.
As a human, I won't hold God to space/time constraints. That's a purely human concept that we're finding problems with down at the Planek foam level.
Cheers.
