The two lines begin forming outside the Crystal Cathedral before 9 on Sunday mornings. It is a mostly immigrant crowd - Mexicans, Salvadorans, Guatemalans, among others - and they stand patiently, unfurling umbrellas against the sun.
When the doors open for the 9:30 English-language service, the lines don't budge. It isn't for a lack of seats inside - so few people are there that cameramen have trouble finding crowd shots for the "Hour of Power" television program, which has been broadcast from the Garden Grove megachurch since 1970.

Schuller, aside from not teaching scripture, ignored a vital reality: the clock keeps ticking and people get old. A church must constantly refresh itself by reaching and teaching the young.

Schuller, and his successsors in the glass cathedral, should have sought to emulate Paul.

The bell tower on the Crystal Cathedral campus would make a great minaret if the place was bought by a Muslim group...I won’t be surprised to see a Muslim group use a front organization to purchase the Cathedral for use as a “cultural center” or the like..then after the purchase is complete...it becomes a mosque...
