It makes a laughing stock out of Christians.
Even Christ's pure words of truth made the scorners of His day do just that... A laughing stock.
What's sad is, ...it only gives the already hardened unbeliever, one more reason, NOT to believe...
Like a former pastor once said; "A Bible text out of context is a pretext"
I have heard Mr. Camping before and he has been preaching for Christians to abandon mainstream churches for years and adopt a "primitive" type of Christianity, assembling only in homes to pray and study... sounds pretty separatist to me.
The Bible warned us of this in the last days in Hebrews 10:25:
"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
This is just but one sign of a false prophet, nevermind the most obvious, that no one knows the "day or the hour", "not even the angels in Heaven" Matthew 24:36
Mr. Harold Camping is a false prophet
This does point to, however, that Christ's Return is nearer.

No more than Global Warming doomsday baloney makes a laughing stock of scientists in general.
