No "Ned Flanders types", God bless them, should think their style should rule public discourse. Thinking thus would be leaving a lot of people out in the cold, uncatachized, unedified and unready to be Christians in the middle of the world. Maybe there needs to some mortification of some individuals' sensitivities...well..you know if the shoes fits..I mean, you know, some self reflection so we can all just..well..get along....
“what is so wrong with bluntness? With having an opinion and speaking it? Why is it that straightforward criticism is so routinely criticized?”
What are you, some kinda Muslim? /s
"Hyperbolic and sarcastic" are not the same as "straightforward." ("Loud" is content-neutral.) In my opinion, overwrought language makes it more difficult to determine whether a presenter's content is reasonable and accurate. The speaker should be able to phrase his point in direct, concrete language. If he cannot, then he is simply feeding his ego by slinging verbal hash on Youtube.
Note, this is not a personal comment on Mr. Voris, because I am not aquainted with specifics of his presentation, other than the dead rodent upon his pate.
I needed another “c” in there ...
re: Why is it that straightforward criticism is so routinely criticized?
That’s not the reason they are after Voris. They are after him because he is being very successful at getting the message out there that almost all the the bishops are wolves in sheeps clothing, that there is something seriously wrong with the clergy itself.
He is getting the same treatment as all the successful traditionalists have received during the last 50+ years, like Abp. Lefevbre, the SSPX, and Fr. Gruner.
I don't get it, if your loud about the content of what you're holding forth on then you're passionate about it..you know body-soul combo that men and women are...
God bless Father Corapi and Voris.
They can afford to be cutting edge commentary. They don’t have a parish to please.
“Passion” is also content-neutral. The content is the content, no matter what the presenter’s emotions are. Sarcasm and hyperbole are content.

An RC 'Quix?'
Who'd a thunk it possible! /sarc
Obviously, he must be doing it wrong in some respects!
Do the RC’s get born with thin skins and Olympic class arrogance or do they get both at confirmation?
lolol. “Count it all joy...” 8~)
And if the RCC really did want “blunt talking,” they wouldn’t silence all the victims of pederast priests, but instead encourage them to report these crimes to the police.
Plenty true.
The Diocese of Lincoln has in place a very strong program of instruction and training for all priests, religious and lay people in the diocese who are in any way, directly or indirectly, connected with children and youth. There are very careful and thorough background checks done for all people who are employed by the diocese, or by institutions, parishes or agencies which have any connection whatever with the diocese. All people, including all children and youth, are regularly instructed to report any incidents of abuse immediately to law enforcement authorities.-- Bp. Fabian Bruskewitz, Bishop of Lincoln, Nebraska, quoted here
Good.
How long has that been in place?
