Michael Voris persecuted: singin' the blues in Motown

By Matt C. Abbott

Michael Voris of RealCatholicTV.com is becoming persona non grata among the Church establishment. A talk he was scheduled to give on the property of the Diocese of Scranton has been canceled by the diocese, which posted the following statement on its website:

'The Diocese of Scranton has determined that Mr. Voris will not be allowed to speak in a Diocesan or parish facility. After these engagements were scheduled, the Diocese became aware of concerns about this individual's views regarding other religious groups. In videos posted on the Internet, Mr. Voris makes comments that certainly can be interpreted as being insensitive to people of other faiths. The Catholic Church teaches us to respect all people, regardless of their faith tradition. Although the Diocese shares Mr. Voris' support of efforts to protect human life, his extreme positions on other faiths are not appropriate and therefore the Diocese cannot host him.'

Ah, yes — that "insensitive" Michael Voris. Interestingly, last year the bishop permitted a pro-abortion, pro-unnatural vice American University employee, Sara Bendoraitis, to speak at the University of Scranton. (Source) But, hey, she's not insensitive like Voris. I get it.

However, the real culprit in this situation is the Archdiocese of Detroit, where RealCatholicTV.com is located. The archdiocese has been trying to quietly destroy Voris' credibility for some time. In fact, one archdiocesan official reportedly referred to Voris as a "nutcase." Why, you ask? The article below, provided to me by a reliable source who's familiar with the archdiocese, should give you a big hint. (I've done some editing for prudential reasons.)

Welcome to the new springtime, folks.

All you can say at this point is, "They have no one to blame but themselves." After suffering for more than 20 years under the rule of closet liberals, clerical dissidents, poorly-instructed clergy, a chancery staff of near-heretics and pastors who refused to preach the truth, the chickens have finally come home to roost in the Archdiocese of Detroit.

In 2009, close to one-third of the chancery staff were let go. But what's killing the archdiocese more than a bad economy is the falling number of faithful Catholics. The question that needs to be asked, therefore, is what has caused Catholics in Detroit to walk away from the Faith — or, perhaps more to the point, an authentic expression of the Faith? The answer is, quite simply, the type of faith promulgated by the archdiocese for the past generation.

In 1976, thousands of liberals who called themselves Catholic met in Detroit under the ominous title of Call to Action, a group that would lay the groundwork for today's meltdown. They proposed a series of initiatives that many in the archdiocese would take up and spend their careers trying to implement.

Over the next 15 years or so, the seminary (St. John's) would churn out a prolific number of actively homosexual priests led by a "gay-friendly" rector, Monsignor Kenneth Untener. On his watch, homosexual pornography was shown on a regular basis under the guise of "sexuality" classes and was mandatory. Multiple reports from inside the seminary said these regular features resulted in an atmosphere that welcomed random and frequent sexual encounters between seminarians on an ongoing basis. St. John's was finally closed down by the Vatican in response.

This continued to be the case for a number of years until Monsignor Untener and the archdiocese's vicar general, Monsignor Thomas Gumbleton, were summoned to Rome to explain the situation. After what has been widely seen as a cover-up story accepted by the Vatican, both men were eventually promoted to bishop — Gumbleton as auxiliary of Detroit and Untener eventually to the Diocese of Saginaw, where he made quick work of destroying the Faith. He died in 2004.

Bishop Gumbleton remained in Detroit where he served for years as a functionary of the homosexualist agenda (his brother is homosexual), advancing the cause of homosexuality whenever possible. Bishop Gumbleton has in fact been forbidden to preach in some dioceses, yet he "ran wild" in Detroit, spreading decidedly anti-Catholic positions in the area of human sexuality. No effort on the part of the chancery was eve r exercised with enough diligence to rein him in.

Under the influence of Bishops Untener, Gumbleton and others, active homosexuality became rampant among the Detroit clergy. Some reliable estimates place the number at well over 50 percent. With the clergy thus compromised, it was only a small step to the near total collapse of the Faith among the laity in the coming years.

Enter the era of a man by the name of [name redacted], who was so influential during the past 20 years that friends and foes alike nicknamed the place the Archdiocese of [name redacted]. He was the power behind the throne during the term of Cardinal Adam Maida (1990-2009), promoting like-minded closet liberals and homosexual priests to positions of authority and influence throughout the archdiocese.

Under the reign of [name redacted], dissident theology ran wild in the parishes as well as the seminary. In truth, much of the blame of what has gone wrong in Detroit can be laid squarely at his feet. As homosexual priests and liberal lay people ascended the ranks of power, the faith life of the archdiocese sunk further into dismay. Parish after parish began being infiltrated with homosexual pastors as well as "gay-friendly" liturgists and music directors.

Catholic schools — such as the Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak, Michigan — became famous for delivering a "bang-up" education while graduating students who were pro-abortion atheists and Buddhists. Mass attendance began a precipitous decline, particularly among the young (ages 18 to 40). RCIA programs became a joke, with adults being offered coloring books and prayer shawls instead of Catholic teaching. CCD classes were reduced to nothing more than weekly baby-sitting operations for middle school students.

Inside the chancery, the decay was tolerated and even encouraged by the likes of high-ranking archdiocesan officials such as [name redacted], who famously lied for months about the existence of a homosexual-sponsored Mass at Holy Trinity Parish in downtown Detroit until his lies were eventually exposed in a scathing and revealing article [click here to read it] in Catholic World Report (1996).

[Name redacted] continued his rampage against anything and everything even remotely orthodox by routinely slandering lay Catholic groups such as St. Michael's Media, an apostolate founded by lay Catholics dedicated to teaching authentic Catholicism by means of the electronic media. He worked discreetly behind the scenes to undo a contractual arrangement the apostolate had already signed with a Catholic TV outfit in Boston, as well as destroying a budding relationship between St. Michael's Media and EWTN.

The [names redacted] nexus, in fact, was responsible for a continuation of the "gay Masses" that continued unabated at the IHM property every Sunday on Six Mile Road in Detroit. (The article in Catholic World Report shed enough light on the sordid goings-on that the Dignity Mass was quietly moved to the property of the IHM sisters.)

Despite a steady stream of complaints from Mass-going Catholics, not a few priests throughout the archdiocese continue to counsel Catholics against Church teaching in areas such as contraception. Faithful clergy are examined with a rigor normally associated with the Inquisition, while heterodox clergy are given a pass or left to their own devices to preach whatever version of Catholicism they enjoy best — oftentimes from the pulpit.

All this heterodoxy has reached critical mass at the parish level, where an overwhelming majority of Catholics simply no longer see a need to attend Mass. Those who do are rarely instructed in the truth of the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist or the need for frequent confession. Unchallenged to live lives of holiness with their priests as living examples, most Catholics in Detroit take a laissez-faire attitude to the Faith and the sacraments.

For close to 20 years, the [names redacted] nexus has installed its own version of the Faith in many subtle ways. The result is that the Faith has become so watered-down and indistinguishable from any other social-help organization that Catholics simply do not identify as Catholics in any meaningful way, and have become the worst of all religious adherents: lukewarm and indifferent.

Catholics in the Chicago area can see Michael Voris in person at an upcoming event on April 30. Click here for details.

I thought this was an interesting article especially in light of the number of folks who seem to categorize Michael Voris as being some sort of radical.

I had 12 years of education at the hands of the IHM sisters. My late aunt got to be a big shot in the order, headquartered at Monroe, MI (home of George A. Custer), and I’m sure that Aunt Mary and all of her colleagues are all spinning in their graves.

Voris has good response to this on his YouTube channel. The same diocese let a hard-core anti-catholic lesbian speak there. I think Voris is a bit of a zealot, but he's not wrong on his assessment of what is happening to the church. Check out the video NOT the same Church. I mean even us Protestants don't go that far.

"I mean even us Protestants don't go that far."

The last Methodist church I went to was locally reputed to be "old school" and very traditional. The first, and last, time I attended the pastor's wife performed a "interpretive worship dance" to New Age flute music and wearing a very revealing body leotard.

I'm not surprised by how far any group claiming to be Christian goes any more, only that there are so many who remain faithful in spite of the organized, corrupting, assault Satan has made on both the Catholic and Protestant churches in this country.

Regards

Hey guys...........what's the problem? I thought "empowerment of the laity" (*cliche cringe*) was part of the much trumpeted "spirit" of Vatican II. Weren't we all supposed to leap out of the pews and start devoting our energies to serving the Church?

Well here ya go.......you've got it!! Voris is preaching to the masses. Is he preaching heresy? No?

Oh.......what's that? Oh, I see. "Empowerment of the laity" was meant to be restricted to conducting crazy liturgies, preaching in place of the priest, handing out Communion and promoting heresy.

Actually defending traditional Catholic teaching is not part of the deal.

Understood.

Voris is just saying the things that all the bishops, clergy, parish bulletins, and all of the Catholic newsmedia (TV, radio, internet, and newsprint)SHOULD have been saying for the past 50+ years. Now you know why none of them gave you this news, they would have been marginalized, and LOST THEIR JOB. Very few people have the courage to tell the truth, if it costs them.

There have been people who do possess the courage, and have persevered against the “New Catholic” progressivist enviroment, and continue to print the truth, the tradition/antiquity of the Catholic faith, as taught for 1900+ years prior to the Vatican II revolution. Tose people have been ostrazized, demonized and marginalized also , long before Voris even had the thought on going on the airwaves. Those people, groups, and preistly sociaeties are:

Priestly Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), The Remnant Magazine, Catholic Family News, The Angelus Magazine,Fatima Crusader, From the Housetops Magazine, and the many writers who write in those publications.

You will not hear anything that Voris says on EWTN since Mother Angelica was nudged out by the Bishops. EWTN has become a lap dog of the same Bishops who are now working to marginalize Michael Voris.

If you hadn't started your little list with SSPX, I might have taken the time to check some of the others out. SSPX, however, is just another bunch who started their own church and call it the real church. How very, very, Protestant of them. And like Protestants, I understand they've started fragmenting the same way as all the Protestant churches always do.

Sorry, Sedevacantism is a slandering of, and denial of, The One True Church. Slandering all things Catholic isn't the same as remaining within the Church and pointing out the Truth. It's abandoning the battlefield to the enemy and claiming victory by setting up your own little self-rightous anti-Church.

Don't fall for the progressivist element within the Church that has been demonizing the SSPX (and Abp. Lefevbre) with their false asserions for 40 years. They are the same element that are now demonizing Michael Voris and will do the same to ANYONE that opposes them.

Did you know that the SSPX is not sedevacantes? Did you know that they are considered Catholic by the pope himself, who lifted the excommunications of JPII? The SSPX has been obedient to the 1900+ years of tradition that is the Catholic Church. It is the progressivist elemnet that has separated themselves fro tradition.

"We therefore choose to keep our Faith and we cannot be mistaken in clinging to what the Church has taught for two thousand years. The crisis is profound, cleverly organized and directed, and by this token one can truly believe that the master mind is not a man but Satan himself. For it is a master stroke of Satan to get Catholics to disobey the whole of Tradition in the name of obedience." (Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre)

If the people had not been slow boiled by all the changes, the novelties of the last 50+ years, they would easily see that the Progressivists New Church is a forgery of Catholicism. They are imposters, just like the Arians. The people who are still Catholic, will eventually understand what the saints have =alwys taught. Maybe they'll see it as I post more. It takes some longer than others to see. Nevertheless, sadly, some will never see, because they like the "New Church".

Letter of Saint Athanasius to His Flock

The Catholic Church Ravaged in the Fourth Century Saint Athanasius lived in the fourth century during the time of what used to be considered the greatest crisis of faith ever to befall the Catholic Church, the Arian Heresy. (The Arians denied the Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ). The vast majority of Churchmen fell into this heresy, so much so that Saint Jerome wrote of the period, "The whole world groaned and was amazed to find itself Arian". Athanasius was the Bishop of Alexandria in Egypt for 46 years. He was banned from his diocese at least five times and spent a total of 17 years in exile. He even suffered an unjust excommunication from Pope Liberius (325-366) who was under Arian influence. It is a cold fact of history that Athanasius stood virtually alone against the onslaught of heretical teaching ravaging the Church of his day – begetting the familiar phrase, "Athanasius contra mundum", that is, "Athanasius against the world".

The famous convert to the Church, Ven. John Henry Newman, described him as a "principal instrument, after the Apostles, by which the sacred truths of Christianity have been conveyed and secured to the world." Often referred to as the Champion of Orthodoxy, Saint Athanasius was undoubtedly one of the most courageous defenders of the Faith in the entire history of the Church. If anyone can be singled out as a Saint for our times, surely it is Saint Athanasius. The following letter of his could, almost word for word, have been written yesterday.

"May God console you! ... What saddens you ... is the fact that others have occupied the churches by violence, while during this time you are on the outside. It is a fact that they have the premises – but you have the Apostolic Faith. They can occupy our churches, but they are outside the true Faith. You remain outside the places of worship, but the Faith dwells within you. Let us consider: what is more important, the place or the Faith? The true Faith, obviously. Who has lost and who has won in the struggle – the one who keeps the premises or the one who keeps the Faith? True, the premises are good when the Apostolic Faith is preached there; they are holy if everything takes place there in a holy way ...

"You are the ones who are happy; you who remain within the Church by your Faith, who hold firmly to the foundations of the Faith which has come down to you from Apostolic Tradition. And if an execrable jealousy has tried to shake it on a number of occasions, it has not succeeded. They are the ones who have broken away from it in the

The pope himself does not say that the SSPX has left the Church. Where do you get your information?
