I think Jesus was viewed at the time as engaging in “false teachings.” He repeatedly called on the carpet Pharisees who were more concerned with the letter of the law than the spirit of the heart. Something from Paul as I recall that the “letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life.” Oh, wait. I’m in a religious forum. Never mind. Shouldn’t be quoting Jesus or Paul.
