Jesus commands Christians to know the season of His return and to watch for the signs of His return.

The signs He gave us to watch for are happening now, all of them, in conjunction with one another and are getting more frequent with increasing intensity. Just like birth pangs.

Yes, we are in the season of His return - ours is the generation.

I know you have been in conversations with folks of various opposing views to what you espouse here, so you are not a stranger to those arguments. I'm not asking for a defense nor am I criticizing your opinion here. I do have a single question, but let me set it up.

"The signs" you are referring to here, do you believe that there has not been earthquakes, before this last year? That is, everything that you claim to be a sign is nothing compared to a not-so-long-ago comparable event. The Japanese earthquake, though devastating, is not the most severe (e.g. Indonesia '94 9.3; Alaska '64 9.2) the alleged pandemic "Bird Flu" was a total bust and was nothing compared to the Spanish Flu of 1918 (3% of global population died, 500 million effected). Much bigger of every kind of event listed in the Olivette Discourse happened subsequent to the Balfour Declaration which put forth the establishment of a Jewish nation, an event even prominent author and Dispensationalist Tim LaHaye has recognized as the "official re-birth of the nation of Israel". Predictions of the LORD's imminent return were rampant among the relatively small community of Dispensationalists during WW2 where Hitler fulfilled many of the alleged "prophecies" concerning the Last Day's Man of Sin. At that time the US was in the midst of the Great Depression, famines of the Dust Bowl and ENSO famines of Asia and plagues of Malaria abound. The "signs" as you speak, were orders of magnitude more than the same kind of "signs" we might see today. Yet despite all of the prophecies from the Prophecy Experts, the LORD did not return as they promised.

Today, there is no war, at least not as described in Matthew 24 where the "wars and rumors of wars", the word is for a traditional "war" - 'polemeo'. What we see in the Middle East are not 'polemeo' wars, but we see 'stasei' (uprising/riot) and 'anastatosas' (civil rebellion). So you can't play the "wars and rumors of wars" card. There are no plagues and this generation has not seen anything like a severe famine. If people are hungry its because war lords and despots keep the food rotting on the docks. So the traditional signs are completely absent as I write.

So if your imagined "signs" are mere shadows of real "signs" of a generation ago, sufficient where every Dispensationalist Prophet worth his salt was predicting the LORD's return well before the Armistice was signed on the USS Missouri, what made them wrong and your meager "signs" are so overwhelmingly apparent that you claim "ours is the generation"?

The above questions are rhetorical, the next is not. The overwhelming majority of confessing Believers, those whose names are in the Book of Life, never accepted any part of Dispensational eschatology. Dispensationalism itself turns basic Christology on its head. For over one-hundred and fifty years now, every single Dispensationalist who has made any prediction has lied and has been proven to be a false prophet. Every single Dispensationalist over the past few generations has been proven wrong, all of their testimony has failed to be realized. Its a multi-billion dollar industry, with books, television, magazines, radio, internet and traveling conferences and shows all pushing the same "signs" and the same "predictions". They missed the fall of the Soviet Union; and of the European Union zooming past ten member nations; missed the various Jewish wars; didn't see any of the Middle Eastern uprisings; thought the next storm was from Turkey, then when proven wrong changed to Iran, then to Egypt, now Libya; up until Barry Soetoro took office swore that the US would forever be Israel's friend but now your camp can't decide if we are now Israel's friend, foe or none-of-the-above. IOW, despite full-time highly compensated, politically connected, well researched and allegedly deeply spiritual (seeing visions from God saying that so-and-so will do such-and-such), they couldn't successfully interpret a traffic sign let alone the myriad of "signs" from 7.0 earthquakes in Christchurch near Rosh Hashanah to the current melee in the Middle East. There is not a single one of them that can be relied upon to tell us who will be the victor in any of the nations with active rebellions. Not a single one of them can guarantee that Israel will not lose even more land or even be spared another incursion by terrorists.

So finally, the question is: After all of these years of lies, failed prophecies, missed major events and false equivications, what is it going to take for y'all to finally come to your senses and realize that Dispensationalism is a failed eschatological system; or are y'all so invested in anxiety, fear and impending doom that abandoning the "crack cocaine" of Dispensationalism will give you withdrawals that you can't overcome?
