There are many activities which take place inside the Mormon church's temples. However, members are taught to keep ceremonial activities a secret because they are believed to be too "sacred" to discuss. They're not even allowed to discuss the details among themselves. Interestingly, most Mormons (some estimates as high as 70%) do not even regularly attend their own temples as is expected of them. While it is true that the Mormon temple ceremony is not biblical, many who are not Mormon have misspoken regarding the temple ceremony, resulting in some confusion. Concerned Christians has attempted to lay out, in a clear and concise manner, what takes place in their temples, what changes have been made and how their temple ceremony conflicts with the Bible. It is our goal to educate Christians and Mormons (who want to know) about the truths regarding the Mormon temple. For those who are unfamiliar with Mormon temples we recommend reading Introduction to LDS Temples. This will give you a basic overview of their significance within Mormonism. In addition, we have provided a brief introduction to each activity of the temple ceremony to give the reader a better understanding. The reader should also be aware that the bulk of this work is made possible by former Mormons who have come forward to expose these ceremonies. Don’t forget that founder Joseph Smith was a convicted felon and his successor Brigham Young ordered the “Mountain Massacre” like some Mafia Don ordering a hit.
The parallels between Mormonism and Islam are also very striking. Polygamy, misogyny, racism, violent beginnings, “lebensraum,” wanderlust, theocracy-—lots of stuff. Just not nearly as bloodthirsty and with much more acceptance of modernity but still similar.
I have always suspected that Joe Smith and his mentor Sidney Rigdon(very possibly the “real” Angel Moroni) had a strong interest in Mohammedanism and likely Turkey, which was the main point of contact with Islam for Westerners in those days.
Perhaps, but I’ll take a Mormon neighbor (or town) over a Muslim one any day.
Actually, the Mountain Massacre occurred after the death of founder Joseph Smith. While many have asserted that Brigham Young may have been involved in organizing the incident, it has not been indisputably proven.
1. Create groups on college campuses labeled 'Christian' in the generic sense, i.e. do not specifically identify yourself as an evangelical born-again sect
2. Encourage everyone to join including good Methodists, Lutherans, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, Catholics, etc.
3. Offer plenty of non-sectarian social and religious activities, insterspersed with Bible studies that are strongly tilted in favor of an evangelical interpretation
4. Over time work over each non-evangelical member through increasingly hostile pressure to become evangelical or risk eternity in Hell.
5. Parade members who have renounced their faith before the rest of the members to encourage further defections.
6. Preach the "Five Basics of Faith", creationism, and other simplistic notions to college students who, presumably, are supposed to be advancing their knowledge of the world.
7. Banish those who after a sufficient amount of time have refused to convert to the proper form of Christianity.
8. Continue to label yourself as a generic Christian organization in order to continue to attract future recruits. After all, you need to hide your light under a bushel if its merely a penlight and you're kinda' embarrassed about how silly it looks.
That goes without saying.
The ORIGINAL Mormons were much more Muslim-like. They have cooled their jets considerably and are now no worse than an annoyance as opposed to a terroristic threat.
Everyone has faith that: “My religion is right, everyone else’s is wrong.”
So, post-belief, my concern is the practical effects on society, mostly, whether they are gonna kill me for being Jewish.
When that level of survival is at stake, I’ll let y’all have your theological disagreements and arguments, and I’ll just arm myself in case of actual Jihadis, some of whom have killed my wife’s co-workers.

The Jews of Medina drove Muhammad to distraction with their resistence to Islam. He made then a special target as a result but the rest of us will do very nicely for Muslim persecution as well.

Protestantism was the "gateway drug" to Mormonism. When the individual (and his personal relationship with Christ) is made supreme over the accumulated wisdom of generations then it is no wonder that sects will emerge with all manner of practices and beliefs.
