Using God’s name in vain usually brings to mind a person cursing another, asking God to damn someone. The definition of vain as described by Webster is as follows.
1: having no real value: idle, worthless 2: marked by futility or ineffectualness: unsuccessful, useless 3 archaic: foolish, silly4: having or showing undue or excessive pride in one’s appearance or achievements: conceited5: to no end: without success or result 6: in an irreverent or blasphemous manner
Westboro Baptist Church portrays the word vain in the purest of forms in its attempt to spew hatred as God’s representative. The world is looking for an excuse to do what they want and Westboro gives them a reason to NOT want to run into the arms of God. While an extreme group of people completely ignores or refuses to acknowledge a creator/higher power another extreme group is playing God according to their own way. Like all lies there is some truth to what Westboro says. However any truth can be perverted and used as a weapon against the uneducated or ignorant.
If a person truly knows the Messiah called Christ then it is easy to see that Westboro is far from knowing Him. It breaks my heart so deeply to see God portrayed in such a hate filled manner by the Westboro Baptist Church. They, in all visual manner do not know Jesus Christ, Y’shua Messiah the redeemer of mankind who died on the cross paying the penalty for those who would accept that payment. Y’shua did nothing that even vaguely resembles what these people are doing.

I know we are supposed to love the sinner and not the sin. It’s hard to do when they protest at a fallen hero’s funeral or at the funeral of a 9 year old girl that was killed by ah hate filled demon possessed lunatic.
Why are you bothering writing about Westboro Baptist Church? It’s a Democratic black-flag organization, led by a long-time friend and financial backer of Al Gore. The only members are his extended family. I thought most people around FR knew that already.
I have had the misfortune to see several of these evil cult members in person.

This is a Democrat front group with a name designed to make real Christians look like the worst of the worst dregs of society. They have nothing at all to do with Christians or Christianity.

you’re right! Wesboro “Baptist” “Church” is a PLANT!!!! How else would they have all that money travel all over the place spewing hate, from Massachusetts to Arizona and beyond? I’ll bet Soros is involved in funding them, too.
These creeps planned to stage a “protest” of the funeral of the 9-year-old girl who was killed in the horrific massacre in Tucson, just because she was Roman Catholic. From what they said about the Roman Catholic church, I am sure that they would hate the holy Orthodox Church at least as much, if they knew about her. But so far we are protected by their ignorance.
Fortunately, the noble Arizona legislature and Governor passed and signed a law to ban anti-funeral demonstrations. That little girl and all the others who died in the massacre, and their loved ones, should have fitting funerals and memorial services, NOT either Westboro hatefests or that obama “memorial service” circus!!
I really don’t think Westboro qualifies as a cult in a religious sense. It seems to be well disciplined Leftist operation to “correctly” characterize fundamentalist Christians and conservatives in general.
These alleged people are demons.
