I was raised Catholic - K-12 Catholic school, altar boy, daily mass, etc. Frankly, Catholicism didn’t do much for my soul. I needed Jesus big time in my young life but Catholicism simply didn’t provide Him. I think it’s fair to say that Catholicism for me and hundreds of millions like me - is/was mostly a religion of rote and principals. Rote and principals, regardless of how lofty, will not save your soul. For the past 35 years I have had a relationship with Christ that has made a real difference in my life. I have tasted and experienced the Holy Spirit. I have a Governor -in me and in the Word (written and living). Catholicism seems to be all about the RC church having people submitting to it. Christianity is about people submitting to and having a relationship with Christ.

Sounds like you are still Catholic if you were baptized a Catholic. Come back to the Church, sit down with a priest and find that peace of Christ. Get your questions answered.

Catholicims is not a religion of rote — sorry if that was your experience. Wish you could be in my Bible Study class!

Catholics are all about having a relationship with Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I don’t know why you were instructed otherwise.

Prayers for you to come back to the Church.

Amen & Amen! For both myself, my wife and my children! The Lord Jesus our Saviour came to seek and save the lost. Yes, He came to save sinners, which all men have sinned and came short of His glory!

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. By whom we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.” (Romans 5:1-2)

Fr. Hardon and Mother TeresaWhen you were an altar boy, had the Eucharist been well explained to you? And what do you think of It now? While your faith you've been with for 35 years has given you a relationship with Christ that has made a real difference, Catholicism provides the Eucharist, and there's nothing better than spending time with a friend in person -- it makes a "Real" difference.
1324 The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life." "The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch." --Catechism of the Catholic Church
I would bet the farm that if you had served at the Masses (and joined them in a Rosary or two following) that Mother Teresa of Calcutta and her good friend Fr. John A. Hardon (Mother Teresa of Calcutta, herself, suggested my husband read Fr. Hardon's writings regarding the Catholic Church; you can too.:)) attended, that you would not only still be Catholic, you would understand what's "missing" in your current church/faith. (I can't say enough about the saints and blesseds. They lead people to the full understanding of the Eucharistic Lord.)
