Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Book of Psalms
Psalm 142

A Contemplation of David.
A Prayer when he was in the cave.

1. I cry out to the LORD with my voice;
With my voice to the LORD I make my supplication.
2. I pour out my complaint before Him;
I declare before Him my trouble.

3. When my spirit was overwhelmed within me,
Then You knew my path.
In the way in which I walk
They have secretly set a snare for me.
4. Look on my right hand and see,
For there is no one who acknowledges me;
Refuge has failed me;
No one cares for my soul.

5. I cried out to You, O LORD:
I said, “You are my refuge,
My portion in the land of the living.
6. Attend to my cry,
For I am brought very low;
Deliver me from my persecutors,
For they are stronger than I.
7. Bring my soul out of prison,
That I may praise Your name;
The righteous shall surround me,
For You shall deal bountifully with me.”

I worked on Kibbutz Tsora in Bet Shemesh and on another above Haifa that same year. My favorite place of worship was the Baptist House in Jerusalem. I left in early October and missed that rain you talked about. I wish I never left.

Thank You, Dogbert41, for Your Prayers For The Peace of Jerusalem! We stayed at Kiryat Shemona that year in the Kibbutz there! There was another Forest Fire in the hills over Kiryat Shemona caused by rockets during the '06 war. I was VERY upset at the time, because I had planted some trees there with my own hands.

For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper. Gracious Heavenly Father, Israel needs Help, Thy Help. Show yourself mighty and majestic. Bring peace to Israel, Jerusalem, persecuted believers: they are surrounded, they are out numbered, they are fighting daily the hard fight ... they need Thy Grace and mercy and forgiveness. Father forgive them they know not what they do ... reach down and bless them this day, in Thy loving kindness. Thank Thee, LORD for the beauty and the challenge of today. amen.
