Window washers will be sad
The real story here is that all megachurches are suffering, and if this economy lingers on for another twelve months, then I’d say that half of all megachurches will fail by that point. The curious thing...our regular churches...will continue on, with a dent here or there...and maybe that says something for what is going to anchor a church down in rough times.
Negotiations broke down when the creditors refused the church's suggestion that they consider the debt a tithe.

Hopefully this means Schuller will stop preaching.
How sad. And it’s all pretty much due to internecine warfare. Unfortunately, it happens often when parents who were called by God think they can arbitrarily pass the Commission on to their children.
Something about a house built upon sand or something........
Hard to sell the prosperity gospel when people are going broke.
Perhaps people will turn to the real good news.
What happened to all that Possibility preaching? Suddenly the New Age mumbo-jumbo just doesn’t cut it anymore.
We’re broke, but we feel very positive about it.
I wonder if Dr Shuler has led a single soul to eternal life.
I believe in avoiding costly middlemen and dealing directly with God.

If there is a Christian God, I can't imagine why he would buy into such garbage.
Some aspects of Christianity appeal to me strongly. But the behavior of many self-defined Christians--including some here at FR--makes the religion come off as repulsive.
Name it and file a claim it.
First point: 1 Timothy 2:12-13 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over a man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
Men should be teachers, not women. Churches that promote women as teachers have brought in deceiving spirits of false doctrines. If you do not believe me, then check out the scriptures in Romans through Philemon: these are the doctrines and scriptures for the church today.
1 Timothy 4 reads: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron...
The apostle Paul through Christ, speaks volumes of truth here to Timothy and us today. Let us learn from Paul and Christ, not doctrines of devils which are so often taught at these mega-churches, simply to raise money and self fame; and not to preach Christ and His correct doctrines rightly. Avoid such teachers.
The Hour Of Power will now be The Fifteen Minutes of Sincere Effort.
“Truly well said. All the Bakkers, Swaggerts, Robertsons,.... the whole money grubbing bunch do not serve Christianity in the manner Christ intended.”
But they have really nice hair!
