JW is a freakish, brainwashed cult. I went out with this girl in college for a few months, until her JW roommate finally badgered her into just coming by their Kingdom Hall to see what it’s like. A week later I was dumped because I “didn’t see the true light of God”.
Anything outside of the JW sphere is a world of sin and depravity ruled by Satan, they refuse military service, no Pledge (it was a Jehovah who filed, and won the lawsuit that made the Pledge no longer mandatory), no national anthems. They refuse blood transfusions, but some have a weird loophole that plasma is ok.
If they’re so foolish as to knock on my door when I’m home that is very similiar to what they would hear from me.
The Mormons certainly do that. The JWs do that as well, and there were JWs tramping around the NYC area for years before the Mormons showed up around here.
Do you just make stuff up, or do you repeat other people’s ignorant statements?
Well heck, if they are knocking on your door, then you are actually being nice. I hate anyone knocking at my door.
I was renting a house from a relative-by-marriage (my aunt’s father). He had stopped by one day to fix something, and some Jehovah’s Witnesses knocked on the door. I answered the door, they introduced themselves, and my relative piped up from behind me, “We’re Catholic - we’ll pray for YOU!” and slammed the door in their faces.
Rude? Yes. Hilarious? Absolutely!
Won’t invite you for any eggnog this year. And I pulled your stocking from the fireplace....
What part of what I wrote is not true?
Thank you...
Some peoples’ ideas are pretty incredible, yes?
And many would believe them on face value... *sigh*
Well, it's probably because she may have been knocking on the doors of those who believe that Jesus Christ is "Wonderful, Counselor, Everlasting Father," and NOT spirit brothers with Lucifer, and they are therefore quite concerned like Peter was, in those who believe in a Christ other than the One testified to by the apostles, and described in the Bible versus the JW-tweaked bible (which conveniently changes key pronouns, etc).
That JW is working in Baptist country, so why get upset?
I note that all "faiths" with coercive practices (such as shunning) have something to hide.
Finally, why should the Mormons, JW's, etc., try to "sound" Christian - they should just put their beliefs out there at your doorstep.
I must say that it's quite a luxury (so far) to live in a country which allows you believe what you will, religiously. Even if I disagree.
Kind of depressing. Also, very male dominated patriarcal "the man is the king of his household" thing. I wouldn't let my daughter marry one...
A co-worker was actually brought up on charges of spousal abuse for locking his wife out of the house for not obeying him about something. She called the police. They charged him even after she said to forget about it.
Hugh Jackman? What is wrong with him?
Theyre outrageous heretics who believe that God the Father has 2 sons, Jesus and Lucifer! Pray for them but dont let them in your house.

You’re thinking of the Mormons.
I’m on your list (number 2), so I’d never get in, but what’s up with #4, Hugh Jackman? If your a married lady I could understand how this might be a problem, but your handle ‘Chien Rouge’ instead of the feminine form ‘Chienne Rouge’ sort of implies that you’re a guy.
Aren’t numbers 9 and 10 the same thing?!
My birthday is actually on May 29 but it is OK with me if you send a gift on Sept 29. Just as long as you remember to send a gift and sing happy birthday to me every year.
There is a JW Mega Church where I live. I’ve met a few and they all seem like nice normal people but I don’t discuss religion with them. I did have one that would come by every Saturday morning to drop off the JW weekly newsletter. Nice guy but the Saturday 10am visits quickly grew old so I quit answering the door. He got the idea and quit coming.
There might be something to the “shunning” thing. I personally witnessed it with a co-worker of mine eons ago. (1980’s)
Her mom was a hard-core JW, she wasn’t. But since she was a minor (17) she had to live in her mom’s home. Actually, it was a converted garage...they had room in the house, but her mom insisted she live in the garage.
This lil’ gal just wanted a normal life. Her mom made her life hell all because she wouldn’t go to bible study with her and be full on JW. Tragically, the girl died in a car wreck. At the “funeral” service at the Hall, actually, more like just their usual bible study meeting, the pastor railed on about how sad it was that this girl would never, ever see any of her family ever again and would never see the face of God because she died a unbeliever.
I got up and walked out at that point.
I prefer it be a Girl Scout selling cookies when I answer the door.
