This needs to be posted every so often. There are several versions, with minor differences, on various websites. There is also a similar vision reputed to General McClellan during the Civil War that is said to be complementary to this.
I wonder if any FReepers have any updated information on these visions?

THIRD AND MOST FEARFUL PERIL
"Then my eyes beheld a fearful scene. From each of these continents arose thick black clouds that were soon joined into one. And throughout this mass there gleamed a dark red light by which I saw hordes of armed men. Naturally, this third vision is the one that will be most interesting to everyone who reads this. Allow me to offer my interpretation of what I think this vision represents.
I believe that the men amassing in hordes and coming to America to inflict the destruction in Washington's vision represent the unchecked immigration (legal and illegal) into our country over the last 40 years.
Our American culture is being diluted and destroyed by the forces of left-liberalism, which commands that Americans accept this never-ending tsunami of foreigners from third world nations, many of whom have no interest in becoming Americans in heart and soul, and assimilating into our American culture.
One of the factors that makes the Tea Party move, is the recognition that we are rapidly being surrounded and replaced by alien tongues and customs. This is also happening in other western countries. If not somehow checked, every one of the countries that are currently undergoing this transformation through invasion will soon see movements similar to the Tea Party arise in their own lands. It's a natural response to an alarming process of destruction.
I think that Washington's third vision is of a coming second Revolution, or perhaps a second Civil War. Our backs are against the wall, and we won't stay cornered forever. At some point, the people are going to take sterner measures to protect and defend their only home.

So you’re saying that this “vision” was released to the public 60 years after George Washington died by some guy who claimed to be the only one who knew of the message?

Snopes says this tale is a concoction made up by one Charles W Alexander during the Civil War.

However, little publicity has been given to the vision and prophecy he received at that time.
So Washington's a prophet too, now? Great, just great.
