In those days, however, a 13 year old was far more mature than a 13 year old of today. They had more responsibilities which is why it was not unheard of for someone so young to marry. Nowadays, that simply is not the case. Our society keeps young people, children, for a very long time, with the dichotomy that it also encourages them to be sexual. The result is the scenario we just read. Yet it is also true that for a man who is 27 to have relations with a 13 year old is plainly disgusting, and her parents are certainly to blame. I had my eyes on my children when they were 13, and I knew where they were at all times.The girl’s parents must have supported this relationship at some point.
