Religion was defamed at Ground Zero
The Washington Post ^ | July 20, 2010 | Dr. Aseem Shukla, Co-founder of the Hindu American Foundation

The New York City community board endorsed the Cordoba House, a community center and mosque planned for construction near Ground Zero.

Significant opposition has emerged against the project. Sarah Palin even weighed in this weekend, tweeting, "Peace-seeking Muslims, pls understand, Ground Zero mosque is UNNECESSARY provocation; it stabs hearts. Pls reject it in interest of healing."

Should there be a mosque near Ground Zero? Building a mosque near the hallowed land of Ground Zero is not illegal. There are no zoning ordinances to preclude construction of any house of worship in that area. The New York City community board endorsed the project and the Cordoba House, that once claimed only a few thousand dollars in assets, may soon proceed with a $100 million structure. Controversy in this case turns on one central point: does legality trump prudence; does ability trump suitability?

The terrorists that left a Ground Zero in their wake perpetrated a single day of murder against this country in the name of any religion unmatched in modern history. Rage against America was their motivation; a perverse read of Islam, we are told, was their inspiration. Religion was defamed at Ground Zero, and asking religion to heal itself and others together at this site seems more reasonable than asking for another mosque, temple or church in a city that has thousands. An interfaith center collaboratively built by Americans, rather than a mosque possibly funded by overseas capital, is among many suggested alternatives.

> “Peace-seeking Muslims...”

Sarah, PLEASE wake up!

This is a contradiction in terms!

Read the book.

Look at the life of the one they call the Perfect Man, to be emulated in all his perverse ways.

Mohammed was a pirate, a polygamist, a pedophile, a torturer, a murderer, an adulterer, a thief, a liar, a truce-breaker, a hostage taker, a kidnapper, a slave trader, and all around bloody savage.

This is how the moslem’s own books describe him.

Please don’t try to give adherents to this barbaric death cult any leeway.

Naming it after Cordoba and dedicating it on 9-11 make it clear that it is an Islamist celebration of the attacks. A new western capital and “holy site” for jihadists against “The Great Satan”.

Want to show sorrow? Set up a memorial to the victims of Islamic murder of non-muslims including those muslims who convert away from the faith. Erect it outside the segregated city Mecca.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a foreign government, is permitted by our government to spend vast sums of money in this counry funding mosques and proselytization activities for radical Wahabism, which is fundamentally opposed to our constitutional system and our way of life.

No foreign government which outlaws freedom of religion in its own country should be allowed under US law to engage in promoting its own religion in the United States.

Most of our political leaders seem to loathe ordinary Americans and reserve their tenderest concern for foreign nationals illegally in the US and for foreign governments hostile to our American constitutional system.

.
Please publicize Muslim response, if any.

There's a reason why it will be named Cordoba House.’ When the south of Spain was occupied by Islamic forces, the Muslims took over the magnificent Cathedral of Cordoba and converted it into an Islamic mosque. Traces of their occupancy remain today. THAT'S WHAT THEY DO! Build their mosque on the temple mount, build their mosque at Ground Zero. It's their version of ‘nanny-nanny.booboo.’Calling it Cordoba House is rubbing it in!

They should make it an interfaith complex proportional with the religious population. So, in a ten story building, 2 percent of the square feet would be dedicated to Muslims.

“The remains of another seventy-two people were discovered on Friday not far from where you plan to build a thirteen-story Islamic center and mosque. Here we are, close to ten years after the largest jihadist attack ever to take place on American soil, and bodies, corpses, are still being recovered. Who knows how many body parts were found in the Burlington Coat Factory building when the landing gear crashed through all five floors? Thousands were never recovered. Their cemetery, their burial ground, is the area in and around Ground Zero. not far from where you plan to build a thirteen-story Islamic center and mosque. **Should there be a mosque near Ground Zero?**

NO! A thousand times no, if you do not want NYC to get hit again and again.

A Catholic ‘seer’ of South American (not approved by the Church,) BTW, has said again and again to build two NON-DENOMINATIONAL chapels or small churches in place of the Twin Towers. Nothing big — just a couple of little churches where everyone could come.
