Was God an astronaut?
Times of India ^ | Dec 9, 2006 | Times of India

Who created mankind? According to some researchers, the answer lies with those who came from beyond the stars. The imagery of extra-terrestrial visitors who came in from other planets, and possibly even other galaxies, to seed the human race is a fascinating one, although highly speculative.

Erich von Daniken, who popularised this theory with his book, Chariots of the Gods, believes that these visitors — termed as ancient astronauts — landed on Earth when the planet was still in its infancy.

As part of their breeding experiments, they seeded the first human being and imparted them with the skills required to set humanity on the path of evolution.

The ancient astronauts, says Daniken, came time and again as humanity evolved, giving them the benevolent air of gods. They presumably built or helped build many architectural wonders of the ancient world, like Stonehenge.

To support his theory, Daniken has cited evidence available in the form of archaeological artifacts, especially cave paintings drawn by primitive man.

For example, the ones found in the Spanish caverns of Ojo Guarea and Altamira, as well as Val Camonica in Italy, depict figures in astronaut-type suits and headgear.

In subsequent books, Daniken has also mentioned references available in various mythological and religious texts — of divine beings who arrived from the skies on golden chariots and who had the ability to materialise or disappear at will.

Examples abound, he claims, in texts like the Ramayana — which has references to Ravana's flying chariot, the Pushpak Viman — as well as the Prophet Ezekiel's revelation in the Old Testament, which according to Daniken, can be interpreted as describing the landing of a spacecraft.

Of course, most of us in India are already familiar with tales of devtas who possessed miraculous powers. Daniken might lead us to look at them in a new light, although the idea of Ravana as an alien may seem far-fetched to many.

Most modern historians as well as scientists take these theories with a pinch of salt, believing them to be a case of forcing data to fit the idea. However, this hasn't deterred Daniken's supporters.

Some like author Graham Hancock believe that extraterrestrials imparted knowledge on various subjects like astronomy, architecture and mathematics to a mother culture, which was possibly the lost continent of Atlantis.

The Atlanteans, he says in his book, Fingerprints of the Gods, later imparted this knowledge to the Egyptians, Aztecs and Mayans.

Members of the Raelian cult too believe life on Earth isn't the result of random evolution. Instead, all life, including humans, was created by scientists from an alien race known as Elohim which, incidentally, is a Hebrew word mentioned in the Bible, meaning those who came from the sky.

Another author, Zecharia Sitchin, has dwelt on this concept in his book, The Twelfth Planet, which is based on the premise that the ancient Sumerians were often visited by inhabitants of Nibiru, a remote planet in the solar system.

Citing evidence available in ancient Sumerian texts about these visits, Sitchin says in his Earth Chronicles that the Nibiruans came to Earth for mining gold and other minerals, establishing a spaceport in what today is the Iraq-Iran area.

To fulfil their need for slaves to work the mines, they created Homo Sapiens by genetically re-engineering their own DNA.

If any of these theories are true, then mankind need look no further than itself to perceive how aliens would look. Because, if God was indeed an astronaut, He probably cast us in his own image.

“”Däniken’s run-ins with the law started at an early age. In the 1960s, while working in hotels and restaurants across Switzerland, he was convicted of fraud, serving a prison sentence for defrauding his boss at one hotel. In 1967, soon after Chariots of the Gods was published he was arrested and charged by Interpol with fraud and tax evasion for non-payment of UK £7,000.00.[1] During the investigation, authorities uncovered a large personal debt totaling about UK£350,000. Däniken was found guilty of embezzlement, and served more than three years in Swiss prisons. While in prison, he continued writing, and ‘Return of the Gods’ was subsequently published. [2]””

Call me crazy, I don’t care, but aliens have been documented on stone carvings for thousands of years all over the world. What better venue for an anti-Christ to show up? All they would have to do is tell the world that they are our God and that they placed us here. Most people would fall for it and it would be an instant corruption of popular faith systems. They could easily seduce people with showings of light, music, and visual spectacles.

I would say that anyone convicted of child abuse would be at least as discredited as Mr. Däniken. Why would you even have to ask such a question?

Thanks.

ALMIGHTY GOD OF THE BIBLE IS ALMIGHTY GOD.

Regardless of all else, I’m confident of that.

THE BIBLE IS THOROUGHLY TRUE.

I’m confident of that.

Satan and his crew have had millenia to build the Biblically warned about GREAT END TIMES DECEPTION—a deception so great that were it possible, the very “elect” would be deceived.

We need to KNOW BECAUSE WE KNOW BECAUSE WE KNOW BECAUSE WE KNOW that

ALMIGHTY GOD IS TRUE, ACCURATE, TRUSTWORTHY—and that Jesus The Christ is coming again . . .

. . . sooner than lots of people would dare imagine.

And, personally, I’m ready for a

GOOOOOD LONNNNNNNNG BREAK IN HIS MORE INTENSE PRESENCE.
