As a Buddhist, it is curious to know where Woods finds his forgiveness. Is it himself? Is it fellow humans? Is it Siddhartha Gautama? Can Woods find great Joy?
Its only found by his Creator... he owes us nothing and his transgressions are against His Creator and his family.
My friend, consider the reality and goodness of Almighty God your Creator. God is not a philosophy but reality. He is not a relativistic concept made up by man but Is.
If you would humor me take this brief test and let me know what you think. it is Easter..
God Bless!

When comes back as a Jackrabbit.
I don’t know much about Buddhism, but I would guess it is not a question of forgiveness, but a need for him to detach himself from the addiction to the pleasures of the flesh in order to move to the next stage of enlightenment.
Just to summarize: as a buddhist, he would (should) be seeking enlightenment and removal of suffering. (Depending on which buddhist strain, he would be more or less centered on other's enlightenment first.) Enlightenment is the goal, "curing" the disease of suffering. Forgiveness, as Christians know it, does not play a specific role, except perhaps as it could relate to holding on to the past and not living in the present moment.
TIger would (should) be following the Eightfold Path in this which includes Right Action, Right Thought, etc. Purification would be include, more or less to the extent of his dedication and practice. He would not get intoxicated no matter what his level. And being led by his base instincts, his addiction he says, would be quite unskillful buddhism, as would the harm he has caused others.
In short, Tiger would have to be seen as a lousy buddhist, or at least one who has not been very successful in his practice of his religion.
