Send Jailed Pro-Life Heroine Linda Gibbons a Christmas Card

November 30, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Supporters of Linda Gibbons are disseminating the following information to encourage support for the Canadian pro-life sidewalk counsellor:

Linda Gibbons has been a “common criminal” for many years now.  For fifteen years, since 1994, this grandmother has been in and out of Ontario prisons. Her totally accumulated jail time is seven years.  What is her crime?  Linda prayerfully and quietly witnesses in front of Ontario abortion clinics, in violation of an unjust "bubble zone" law.

This past session has been particularly onerous - she has been behind bars since last January, and this will be her second consecutive Christmas in jail.

Please consider sending Linda a Christmas card this year.  She will be encouraged and uplifted by your thoughtfulness. To maximize the effectiveness of this initiative, why not talk to your pastor and see if you can put this message in your church bulletin?  Why not pass this message along to family and friends?

Her address is:

Attention: Linda Gibbons
Vanier Center for Women
655 Martin Street, Box 1040,
Milton, Ontario
L9T 5E6, Canada

There are some mailing guidelines because the Detention Centre mailing department reads everything sent to the inmates:

1. Don't use stickers (address, return address, pro-life) on the envelope or card.
2. Don't send any laminated cards, bookmarks, prayer cards, pro-life pamphlets. Non-laminated items will get to her.
3. Don't ask direct questions about daily activity of the detention centre.
4. Put your address directly in the card or letter. (Sometimes the mail sorter keeps the envelope and Linda feels badly if she can't write back.)
5. If you would like to send a little monetary gift to Linda it must be a money order made out to “Linda Gibbons.” The detention centre will deposit the money directly to her account. She uses any donations for envelopes and stamps.
6. Many people add a variety of Christian reading material in their mailings to her. She often shares articles with others in the Centre. She can receive pro-life material that show the development of the baby but not post abortion photos. She can't receive books. Try to stick to one or two pages of reading materials or pamphlets.

If she can not abide by the law she deserves to be - not in jail - but in prison as a habitual offender.

Change the law, but until then, obey it. Or face the music.

That’s the spirit, Leo!
She’s not , uhhhhhh....”polite” enough for you?
Should she spend her time writing letters to the Editor?
And in case you hadn’t noticed, she HAS BEEN facing the
music. What music have YOU been facing?

Gosh, it seems that the Apostle Paul would’ve been on Linda’s side. He was imprisoned many times for preaching the gospel which was against the law.

Are we to obey God or man? This is a decision one makes when the law goes against God’s law.

I have NO SPIRIT for her at all. Why should I? She's a criminal.

Period.

I care not about her politeness.

Super. SHE’s POLITE! She's also a criminal.

All she has to do is take her protest (silent as it is) down the road a bit but she refuses!

She belongs in prison - or just down the road enough to keep her out of trouble.

Surely you understand this?

She has a clear choice - take her protest down the road a bit or be imprisoned.

Paul did NOT have this choice.

What's your point?

Paul did NOT have this choice.

Sure he did. he could have renounced Christ, or just stopped preaching.

Had you been Roman would you have posted something like this?
"I have no sympathy for those Christians being torn apart by lions. They had their choice. They chose to practice a banned religion. That makes them criminals and criminals get eaten by lions. Don't like it? Talk to your Senator. Otherwise worship Apollo like everyone else or get eaten.

Of course she cannot abide by the law because she should not. The law is injust. Sometime honest people belong to jail, and governments that promulgate them — to the trash heap of history.

“Sure he did. he could have renounced Christ, or just stopped preaching....”

Then you added some other rather ignorant fluff as well.

Point 1. Paul, as you correctly stated had a choice - to stop preaching entirely or face the music. he made the correct choice. Good for him.

Point 2. If Paul had been informed that he could preach the gospel of Christ but that he had to do it 200 feet from a synagogue, by God he sure as heck should have moved the 200 feet.

Apples and Oranges.

NO ONE. NO ONE is trying to stop this woman from her protest. She just has to do it down the road a bit.

Cindy Sheehan had the ability to protest the war in Crawford Texas - she just had to respect the boundaries set by the protectors of the president. By your argument Cindy should have been able to stand on the porch of the Bush ranch and I'm supposed to feel sorry for her incarceration.

Get a clue.

Quickly.

It is coming to civil disobedience for all of us who love this country. God bless this dear lady! When they come to arrest all of us you will be safe cause you don’t care for anything but your safety. As Franklin said, “Those who treasure security above liberty will have neither.”

What is unjust about the law, prey tell? The law says she can protest - just down the road a bit.

That's the law she has broken.

She has not broken a law that say’s: ‘Thou shall not protest against abortion.’

She has broken a law about proximity.

Let me ask you a question? Are restraining orders legal in your opinion?

They will put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you, will think that he doth a service to God. John 16:2

Rosa Parks, Patrick Henry, any of our founding fathers, those who have brought their cases to the Supreme Court to be overturned because the State over-reached.

Civil Disobedience has a long and honorable history. You are correct that any that participants have to suffer the consequences and she is doing so. But, I applaud her courage and behavior and will send a card and money.

She was engaged in a speech on a controversial matter of public policy in attempt to same one life form injury and another life from death by dismemberment. Her act was rendered less effective by the idiotic bubble law.

In contrast, a restraining order is issued when in a private dispute the complainant cannot proceed with daily activities in peace.

“...When they come to arrest all of us you will be safe cause you don’t care for anything but your safety....”

Bullcrap!

Who says I don't care about anything but my safety. Bullcrap!

You idiots are just a emotional about this issue as liberals about global warming.

The facts mean NOTHING to you - you are 100% emotion.

Let her protest in a LEGAL area.

I am NOT pro abortion. No way. I just cannot abide when these people break the distance laws and you morons think they are ‘wonderful’ - they are criminals.
