Every once in a while Rome puts out something that is actually OK.

I grew up Catholic. Haven't had much of a problem with Mormon missionaries. They're nice enough folks. I just tell them I'm already Christian. Generally, they are good kids and aren't pushy or anything.

I find the fights between sects of Christianity to be pretty pointless, honestly. The "my sect of Christianity is the only true sect" seems an exercise in futility.

On the other hand, Mormons and Romanists still share the most serious flaw in their view of God: that men may put their own Creator under an OBLIGATION to show mercy.

There is One True Church. Jesus founded it. Headquarters are in Rome. The best part of discussing mormonism is the shedding of light on their cult.
All the truth on mormonism is here. All of it.

Huh? mormons aren't "Christians", bro. Not even close.

I’m not terribly interested in debating what you think is and isn’t Christianity. As I stated in my initial post, I just don’t see the point.

These internecine religious pissing wars are amusing, if nothing else.

What a concise, FACTUAL, and informative article. I encourage everyone to print this out and have it handy to use when confronted by missionaries or acquaintances who try to live up to the mormon church's admonition to their members, "every member is a missionary."

Why Every Member a Missionary?

"President Kimball said: “Missionary work is not limited to proclaiming the gospel to … people now living on the earth. [It] is also continuing beyond the veil among [those] who have died either without hearing the gospel or without accepting it while they lived on the earth. Our great part … is to perform on this earth the ordinances required for those who accept the gospel over there. … I hope to see us dissolve the artificial boundary line … between missionary work and temple and genealogical work, because it is the same great redemptive work!” 7

You in the United States and Canada can use our television and radio messages to generate potential interest in a family member, neighbor, friend, or acquaintance to learn more of the gospel. Simply ask if they have seen the Church messages. The family messages are a valuable resource to strengthen families. Our television messages with free offerings of instructive videocassettes, a copy of the Book of Mormon or Bible have prompted many to seek solutions to life’s problems. Invite those who have heard these messages to a family home evening, a Church activity or meeting. Then introduce them to the missionaries.

Start today to find excitement and joy as you seek to find the missionary opportunities around you.

Some sort of Protestant posting a thread about what a Catholic website says concerning Mormons?

No thanks.

Rome is now San Diego?

Gamecock, you might want to read where this is drawn from. It isn’t Rome or the Church.

It is. That’s why everyone should abandon those sects and join the Church instead.

Truth and salvation are the point.

They’re both worth debating over.

if you mean “What year did the Catholic Church DECIDE that protestants could be Christians” then your question makes no sense. The Catholic Church has always recognized Lutheran baptisms, for instance, as valid. Lutherans - the first Protestants - were always viewed as Christians.

The Roman Catholic Church doesn’t recognize Mormonism as Christian. Why do you?

I have nothing bad to say about my Catholic upbringing.

I also have no desire to have an "I don't like Mormons debate" with you. Have a good one.

Then you are only a Catholic by upbringing and not practice? I think I understand.

Just as I am a Mormon by upbringing, but now am Christian by faith and practice. ;)
